HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

Thing is, you can actually get most NFL and MLB (possibly NBA) streaming already. Until it gets to the playoffs. And those don't usually air on ESPN anyway. They are network. The SuperBowl is airing on CBS. There is a watch ESPN app, so I would assume most ESPN is available on that. I just haven't really explored the app yet.

And they also have their ESPN3.com site where you can watch some games online.

I've tried this and the app and they're both great. However, there is an authentication process that checks whether you are a current cable subscriber. You can't access content if you're not.

That would depend on the contract because, right now, the characters belong to GH so if its not spelled out in the contract, I can only imagine FRon being generous and allowing PP's input.

they own the characters through March, so GH could do whatever they want with them, I hope they mess them up big time for PP, just like PP messed up the endings of the two soaps

I am able to access it through my phone/Internet provider...I have cable through someone else.

No PP has the lisence to all AMC & OLTL created characters. GH is only borrowing Starr Todd & John

I use the ESPN3.com site to watch tennis matches and it's pretty good.

I also access the site through my ISP. I don't subscribe to cable at all.

But that just means the technology exists. If the time comes where it makes financial sense, then it's prepped and ready to go online without a cable subscription. But I'm sure the fees the cable companies pay make that a proposition that won't make sense for awhile.

It would be funny if they had Starr, Todd and John's last episode with them all in a car going over a cliff.

Exactly what I was thinking. If General Hospital can't have them, then why should anybody else be allowed?

Plus, what makes killing the character of Todd off a larger writing offense than pairing him with Carly?

None of these folks have acted sane, reasonable or mature in any of this. I'm just trying to think like they do (heaven forbid!).

Because they have the rights to the characters?

I just had a visual of Toonces the Driving Cat at the wheel. Thanks, '80s SNL!

Hmm. Time Warner just hates me then.

Why would ABC screw over PP just for the sake of it? I imagine GH is their priority but they'd like the other shows to chug along online as long as possible to continue to collect licensing fees.

GH should bring Toonces in. It would be better than most of the current characters.

GH doesnt have the rights to them so thwy cant kill em off. I wonder if PP will undo Cole & Hope's deaths

IMHO ABC is at fault here. They knew the deal they made with PP. They knew PP could still make a go of OLTL. ABC acts like they were blindsided & thats so not true.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. And if anyone wants to call me a Prospect Park "apologist," feel free... just be prepared for the verbal slaying that awaits. Nevertheless, I've been thinking this whole time that ABCD/GH are the ones to blame for this mess. There should've been a congruent awareness that these characters were on loan to GH and nothing definitive (i.e. having Todd supplant his entire Llanview business to Port Charles, Starr engaging in a full on, live-in romance with the show's younger "lead," and have McBain acquire a permanent spot on the PCPD and have him involved with the show's "lead" actress) should've been written for them until after it was clear they could use the characters full time or not. They took a gamble and lost. Valentini even hinted at there being legalese involved with bringing Natalie over to help resolve the McBain situation, so you can't tell me that this was a total shock to GH's management. They just flew in the face of it all and now this situation has occurred.
