HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

How early in the week will the news be announced? Tomorrow perhaps?

Tomorrow is a federal holiday so probably not.

It probably has to do with the rights to use the faces of actors who are no longer on the show.

I was thinking they could use the format but use cast photos similar to the ones they used during the gold opening. Basically, I love how the old book was fully intagrated into the modern era. I like the old book better than the one from 1990-2004;2004-2010.

If it's Marlene McPherson and they're finalizing the writing team, we already heard that last week, so that would be anticlimactic. There's probably more to it than that or Errol wouldn't be so secretive. I would be fine with it though.

I still think the opening used in the monitor behind Susan at 55 seconds within to this clip should be AMC's opening:

I wonder why they did not use it for the show?? Does anyone know any info about it??

I think that clip was used on Soapnet for AMC's 40th anniversary

Scotty, I forgot about the bumpers! I'm smiling just thinking about them now in my head :) Viki's took so long to come out, especially given the fact that she didn't end up posing for one haha. But yes, I agree with your sentiment about the title card/that musical cue. Would there be rights issues though with the music?

I sure hope they retain Ilene on recurring. Honestly, if I were her, I'd just approach them and be like "I'd be up for it! Do you have a place for Roxy?"

That's right. The phone does work both ways.

It works both ways, but I don't think it would do her or them any good. I don't believe these people can afford supporting or recurring characters. If you are not essential to the show and the ongoing stories, chances are, you won't be called.

My fear is that the actors don't know how to reach out to PP since they've been so hard to pin down for any sort of statement. That said, I'm pretty sure she was in contact with them last time. I forget, was she in talks to remain recurring last time or did they not have a place for her last time, either? Then I wouldn't blame her for not putting forth any effort.

I wish Ilene would get the Jill Larsen treatment and just be put back on contract. I'm sure I've asked, but does anyone know some standout contract to recurring to contract moves from soap history? I feel like it's very rare and I remember I was so happy to see Jill back in the opening (with a "new" shot, too!)

John J. York (Mac, GH).

Oh right! But he was never officially moved out of the contract credits, right? Or was he and then just retained his billing position when he returned? I know we talked about this but I forgot LOL

Correct. That was the time that GH included York & Constance Towers as a part of the contract cast even thought they were on recurring status.
