HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

I'll ask Errol again here and maybe this time he'll answer: What do you think the odds are of this actually happening now?

60/40. Writers are writiing so they must be paid no matter what. Producers are working, but aren't producing anything yet. Actors have no scripts and no wardrobe/hairstyle/makeup team fussing over them or sets to walk around in. Each week we get closer to filming and finding out how big each cast grows to I'll update my ratio.

The bloated writing teams we have no just don't make any sense. It's not giving us better quality and it's a waste of budget. Large writing teams are what allowed Maria Arena Bell to be off set for the majority of the year and work whenever she felt like it. It would basically be like paying one of us to pitch stories and make decisions every now and then, but continue to do whatever we're already doing in our real lives.

Lynn Marie Latham is a great writer. One of the biggest problems in developing talent for soaps is that they tend to give newbies too much power too soon and it sinks them. Lynn Latham did AMAZING things in primetime and even a lot of her ideas for Y&R were very good. The problem was the execution and the pacing. She also had high ratings at least until Victoria Rowell's exit derailed things. Had they kept her with Kay Alden and Jack Smith Y&R wouldn't be the mess it is. It would've flourished. I would absolutely welcome Lynn Latham back to daytime under the right circumstances. She's a very progressive writer and believes in giving minorities stories at least. She completely revived the Winters and made then an INTEGRATED force in Genoa City. She also gave us sexy ass Ji Min, who was perfect with Jill.

Going back to reality, I don't know how I feel about AMC's HW announcement. We'll see, but I'm just not that crazy about Marlene McPherson, even as a big Passions fan.

Exactly! Also PP is working with a clean slate so this idea of having less writers seem likely to happen. It would be impossible to fire 2/3rd's of the writing staff at B&B do to unions and what not (Besides it wouldn't be ethical) just to make the quality better. This is why I am glade none of the contracts crossed over.

I think I would be fine with Marlene McP because I truly believe it was network and Corday interference that shot down some of the stories involving veterans on Days. I would totally dig Addie Walsh or Hal Corley, but would also love Richard Culliton. As long as it isn't McTavish, Pratt or Guza, I would be willing to give the writers a chance.

I feel pretty much the same way. My best guess based on Errol's hints would be Culliton since he wrote the episode that won Days the writing Emmy last year.

I'm semi sober....

I like the person, personally and professionally.

I'm told the reason prospect park is announcing is because they are wanting to announce the full writing team, which is still being assembled as I write. Now I sleep. Night bitches.

Thanks for all the info, Errol! I'm thrilled that they're planning to announce the full writing team and can't wait to find out who's on it.

Nelson Branco said itll 100% happen but he said question is will it succeed or fail

  • Member

I vote "fail."

And no, I'm not happy to be so damn negative.

Nelson Branco says a lot of things.

This may be the closest they've come, or it may not. Whatever one thinks of FV, not having his logistical know-how and ability to produce actual results involved anymore did not exactly inspire confidence from the start. The rest of the people involved (at PP) have no idea how to produce a soap opera.

NB said he wants ABC to get rights back but even though Frons is gone, I dont buy them wanting to revive the shows. NB made it sound like Cartini wanted this so they could use more OLTL & AMC characters on GH

Hmmmm so the hints Errol has given about the AMC HW continue to point to Marlene McPherson.

MarDar may have had to deal with interference at DOOL but the boring was them. They truly believed that their first episodes with the opening of the town square were super-duper exciting, but they were completely dull.

I can't even say "Marlene may be a nice lady but..." because she showed she is not.

How did she show she is not nice

Someone else can probably flesh this out better but my understanding of it is that a blogger incorrectly stated that she and DRT were involved in the writing of the DAYSaster. She flew off the handle about it and sent the blogger a letter threatening legal action against him.

If I were her I would want to be erroneously associated with the DAYSaster because it was more exciting than anything she ever wrote.

Maybe she was so badly burned from NBC/DOOL that she became overly sensitive.

Nah, that's too harsh toward John.

You know, I am beyond tired of people using that preening little !@#$%^&*], Nelson Branco, as a reliable source. "But Nelson said, Nelson said, Nelson said!" FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

(Forgive me, John. I am in no way directing this specifically toward you. You are way cool, and I enjoy reading your posts. I'm just saying.)
