HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

can u link us please

In at least one report I read earlier it said that she was "thisclose" to signing on,while that Showbiz 411 site made it sound like it had been a done deal already.

Sweet Jesus, but that's funny as hell.

But seriously, the more I think about the possibility of AMC 2.0, the more I ask myself, "Is it really worth the reboot?". Even with all the resurrections that happened at the end under Project Walking Dead (tm...marceline, I think?), I still felt as if a crucial amount of the show's core had vanished. I mean, my God, we're even talking now about the possibility of an AMC without Susan Lucci; and while I know she isn't everyone's favorite actress, I don't know whether AMC could survive without the actor who had been, for many years, its biggest draw. And most everyone else that we'd love to see on the new series (which, I have noticed, does not include much of AMC's last contract cast roster) have either dead, retired, moved away, or moved onto other projects.

I think an AMC reboot needs big changes--no question. But I disagree. I still found in the final months--and actually, even with S&K the final year and a half of AMC, it was one of the few soaps that had a sense of family and heart--something I didn't find with OLTL although I will grant it (after the awful 2010 post the mass cast firings) had moments of it. Many will say I'm just biased, and I probably am. I think having the Hubbards is a brilliant start. Tad--written well, is a good fit too.

Why so serious! Yeah, I've grown up, I've done some stuff. I like alcohol. 'Nuff said.

See I only drink red wine. And not that often either.

I told you guys I was the boring good girl here. ;)

It was hardly GL or ATWT at the end, Khan, get a grip.

I do think it borders on suicidal to attempt to mount the show without Susan Lucci.

And I sorta agree with this POV instead. I think if Lucci manages to make several episode long appearances, we'll be fine--but I agree without her at all will be a hard sell. But the show's feeling was not completely gutted the way GL in particular was in its final years. There was still some recognition there and feeling for AMC. I daresay that's one reason both AMC and OLTL's cancelations left people more upset--ATWT and particular GL had been running on fumes longer and their final months didn't see much of an upswing to what could possibly be.

Last comment before I really buckle down. I have 6 untouched bottles of white wine in the fridge. Last month I drank about 10. Not sure why I haven't touch the forbidden fruit this year, but that's only at home. I still go out :)

B&B actually has a large writing staff: Brad Bell, Jack Smith (dialogue, too), Kay Alden, Michael Minnus and Patrick Mulcahy all work on the outline. Plus, all the dialogue writers.

AH I guess those are the only names I see in the Canadian end credits and I assumed they worked on scripts too...

I should, I'm just shy. And I grew up in a small spread out county. Whenever I get a new job and actually live in a city, maybe I'll be more like the rest of you .

Except I only want red wine. You guys will NOT fully corrupt me! :P
