HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

Khan's left the janitorial staff to handle OLTL, since he wrote it off it as a lost cause after the glory days of 1982.

But seriously, I've no idea who among the "usual suspects" could HW OLTL 2.0 effectively. Since so many loved Michael Malone's work (at least, the first time around), perhaps it'd be wise to look outside daytime once more and find someone with a knack for telling stories featuring a wide variety of characters on a broad canvas. Like, say, Richard Russo?

It's kinda funny to me that the AMC signings have all been hospital staff. It could turn into Grey's lite

Just curious, how many primary characters do you think these shows will have? And when do you think the recast process will start?

hmmm.....

At a morning TCA panel, ABC entertainment chief Paul Lee said that ABC is high on soap operas, saying he’s delighted that General Hospital is “rocking and rolling” in daytime

Not even OLTL characters on the show could make me watch GH.....well not the ones that are on there now anyway. I have never cared for GH at all.

Even if this still falls through, I'm stunned (STUNNED STUNNED STUNNED as Blanche would say) they've made it this far.

Considering that these alleged reboots allegedly will be 30 minutes each? I'd suggest keeping the regular cast as small-ish as possible -- really, between 10 and 15 -- in order to give everyone appropriate story and airtime.

As far as recasts go, though? Eh. I think that should be avoided for the time being. If you can't get the previous performer, then write him/her out and use that space to introduce a new character (or even a character from years gone by, if that's possible).

Great news about the WGA deal. Curious to see who will be HW's but I prefer they be someone who knows the show's respective histories but have never been HW.

I wonder how Writers like Megan and Ronald would do without Network Interference? I wonder how OLTL would be if Franklin produced and someone like Clair Labine wrote? I also wonder how long it would take Agnes to write a story bible for OLTL after years of not writing for it?

Has anyone wondered if these reboots will exist in the same continuity as GH? GH has a lock on Todd, Starr and John but they've been writing about other OLTL characters like Clint and Natalie even though they havent appeared. There is an ongoing background story with Blair, Tea and Tomas, that presumably would be picked up sometime eventually. Will these reboots be bound by what GH was doing or will it be almost like a Dallas/Knots Landing situation where the shows unnofiially seperate and no longer exist in the same universe. Basically will OLTL ignore what RC has written in the past year and start up a year later, picking up from the finale?

Woohoo to the WGA news!!!!! I can't wait to find out who they've chosen for the writing staffs now. As long as Passanante and McTavish are banned, and I can't see Agnes recommending either of them to PP, I'll be happy.
