HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

I just can't stand to hear him speak. Yogurt mouth.

LOL I hate the way he says "Castillo" it's hilarious. I love how David says '"Castillo" cause he says it to put him in his place lol

I understand Cara, she was the more popular of the two Castillo's, but really neither one is needed. I'd rather the focus be on actual core families

Frankly I think the "core families" conceit is a bit played out. I've seen enough people use talk of "core" to throw up a wall against any new character they don't like. I It's part of the reason writers are always trying to tie new characters to the canvas by making them some long lost relative and retconning the [!@#$%^&*] out of these shows (see Tad/Damon). Completely useless poorly conceived characters are given a "core" pedigree and we're expected to embrace them (see Colby Chandler). It's lazy.

Saying we should concentrate on core families is also a convenient way for some people (not you) to stave off attempts to bring meaningful diversity to these shows.

Yay. I believe him but "According to several sources" made me cringe a bit. Concrete is always better, but like I said, I still believe him.

I have no problem with diversity, but the Castillo's aren't it, at least to me. Why not bring in more Hubbard's.

You may think it's played out, but people don't tune into to see newbie families....

Core family is a fantasy, a lie. Many of this genre's most popular characters had no ties to core families when they showed up. Frankly, aside from the Hubbards, I wouldn't be all that sad to see AMC leave some of their families behind, since we likely won't be seeing David Canary or Ray McDonnell.

OLTL destroyed their families long before cancellation, although I still hope Viki and Dorian will be a part of this.

With a WGA deal in place, that is pretty huge. As for the Castillos, I have no issue with them coming on.... explore that family a bit more in depth.

I wonder will they use new opening credits or use the ABC versions?

I'd hope for new one's. OLTL's was dated and I always hated it. Only AMC's even tied into the idea of the show, but I'd prefer new ones to a certain extent.

All My Children's last one was pretty generic. At the very least, I hope the closing photo album returns with the original type face that was used from 1970-2004.

I said a few pages back that the opening is the most important thing to me......

That sounds like a good idea. Will look into that.

Time for me to fire up Photoshop

There's no reason they can't do both.

They didn't tune in to see the core either. That's why the shows got canceled. If these shows are going to work they need to attract new viewers. That will require opening the shows up.
