December 6, 201213 yr Author Member Becca's dad. I'm one of those people who didn't know who the hell Patti LuPone was before that show. I'm glad that there are Broadway stars who continue to get TV careers which was sort of the norm back in the day. Sara Ramirez and Andrew Rannells being more recent examples. And of course Chenowith.
December 6, 201213 yr Member I rewatched all of the Torkelsons, Blossom and Mr Belvedere a few years ago - and let me tell you, every single episode is a special episode. Webster also was basically a series of very special episodes.

Aww, Mr. Thatcher! That disappoints me so much. Same here about not knowing Patti Lupone before LGO, though I'll do you one better and say that I didn't know that she was a Broadway legend until well after that show ended. (On another note, I wonder what Chris Burke is doing these days...)
December 7, 201213 yr Author Member The last time I saw him, and I'm talking over 15 years ago, he was trying to become a country singer. He was on E! and they were showing him in the studio serenading two little girls, one of them was the girl who played Krissy, the youngest kid on Growing Pains. If you could see the look on those girls' faces while he was singing to them. IIRC, Krissy had her arms folded and was popping gum, staring at him like, "Is this really happening right now?"
December 7, 201213 yr Member Are you a mind reader? This is EXACTLY the episode I was thinking of last night but didn't feel like explaining it yet again on this board. I don't remember the ep name, but the thrift store dress had a big stain on it and the mom said she could make her a silk cabbage rose to cover it. At the dance, the dress' bitchy original owner was jealous of Dorothy Ann and her date and yelled in front of everyone that Dorothy's dress was a thrift store dress that her clumsy little brother had spilled something on. Then she ripped off the silk cabbage rose to reveal the stain. Dorothy Jane was mortified. Her date comforted and reassured her, then covered the stain with his hand and they continued to slow dance away. That's like the ONLY episode of The Torkildsens that I remember!
December 7, 201213 yr Member LMAO at the gif of the chick from ANTM. I was so happy when she was eliminated!

I think I'm remembering that right. It's from season 5, and it's probably the most serious episode of an otherwise VERY light-hearted show (overall, that is). I've always felt it was somewhat out of place. Edited December 8, 201213 yr by MissLlanviewPA
December 8, 201213 yr Author Member Poor Cynthia. The way Mrs. G. answers the phone is so bizarre and haunting.
December 8, 201213 yr Member Blossom had VSEs? I know they had recurring themes (Anthony's alcoholism and Joey's abandonment issues with their mother), but I honestly don't remember any special episodes. "Next week, on a Very Special Blossom..." I think the Very Special category on the old Jump the Shark website was founded with that very voiceover in mind.
December 8, 201213 yr Member Poor Cynthia. The way Mrs. G. answers the phone is so bizarre and haunting. Once again, Linda Marsh and Margie Peters amazed me by writing a script that felt authentic in terms of how the girls reacted to the news, as well as the fact that the story wasn't all tied up in a neat bow, as most of the Embassy-produced shows tended to be.
