The lack of Qs causes an issue with me too, when characters like Carley go on about what a potentially evil threat that family is--when it seems for ages now the family has largely been Monica, who's largely harmless, and Tracy, who isn't exactly gonna go around trying to corrupt Michael--and a harmless for a long time Edward. For a while now they've seemed like one of the least potentially "threatening" family on the show.

That said I did overall like the Quartermaine stuff today--and Tracy. Not spectacular, but better than I expected. I was looking at the description for episodes this week as I can enver remember which day they pre-empt in the US for Thanksgiving, and it looks like we're back to random gunshots on Thursday, unless my DVR is wrong...

I know I'm "not supposed to", but I got a kick out of those Clint/Bo mentions today. I thought to myself, "Wow, I see Clint's still being an !@#$%^&*], guess he hasn't completely dropped his lame wannabe-Asa schtick. And poor Viki, I wonder how she's handling all this?..."

But it was!! It will lead to a reveal that Edward had used cutting edge science to not only save Lila, but rejuvenate her into a hot, spunky, twenty year old, who unfortunately thinks she's still in the midst of the Roaring Twenties! (Ron has never been too good with dates...). GH's best return of the dead story so far this year! (Wait though, there's an even more shocking one due before January).

I hate to indulge these lame bones thrown at OLTL fans too, but I admit I kinda like mentions of life going on back in Llanview--more than many of the actual returns. (Though some of them have been so off--Starr recently said something about how awful the Buchanens' were as a family, which made no sense coming from her).

She has a point - the Buchanans of the last years were a very sad bunch, with Clint made into a monster, the relationship between Clint and Bo destroyed beyond repair, Bo not caring a bit about his nieces and even defending his niece's rapist, Kevin and Cord wisely staying away as often as possible, and Joey existing briefly as a dunce before vanishing back into the dark.

That line tells you a lot about RC's true contempt for the family, which IMO was there in spades during his time as headwriter.

I guess all this would be more suited for the OLTL thread though (not the tribute one, as this isn't much of a tribute).

    • I'm curious the motivation for keeping Bela on beyond the circus story arc.  Did he play a character like his character on EON, or was he more of a good guy? I know he ended up with Sunny at the end of the series, but I always thought that Sunny/Hogan could have been revived once the lack of chemistry between him and the NuLiza became apparent.   Actually... the NuLiza (Louan Gideon) reminded me more of Sunny than she did Liza as played by Sherry... and she just threw off the whole vibe of the show. I see Estelle has just arrived in the late October 1985 episodes, which only means that Wendy and Stephanie are soon on their way out.   It also appears that the Sarah/Quinn/Wendy triangle was set up by Mayer.. and it looks as though Tomlin is going to deactivate it by the introduction of Colleen Dion's character.   I don't understand why no one on the show thought to look at Quinn and realize that he was the problem and write him out.

    • I kind of assume they're toning down Rachel's bad seed tendencies a bit to make it less obvious if they're going for her as the shooter. At least that's what I hope they're doing - I've really enjoyed Rachel being a bratty evil DiMera princess and Marlena finally getting a grandchild she deserves.

. This show is so stupid. Sonny killed an FBI agent less than a year ago by shooting him at point blank range. But the new short bald man is much much worse cause he was a bad guy in some part of Africa and managed to not kill Lucky, Isaiah, Jason, or Anna. This show is crippled by the mob all these years after Guza has been long gone.    Laura is literally saying oooo but Sonny is a good mobster for Port Charles. Give me a [!@#$%^&*].ing break. Sometimes I don’t know why I watch this joke of a show.
    • With all the changes Sunny was one of the longest running characters by that time.  She had never been married and had heaps of story potential. I can see America getting with SFT -you know 'the circus soap'. Smart move because circuses were all the rage with the kids in the 80's. Maybe Stu and Jo could have bought the circus.
    • It is actually pathetic, that Victor’s 50 year old children are still written as scared of this man that has to sit in every scene. I get it, EB has been on the show for almost 50 years, but I don’t care. He’s a man in his 80’s and should not be the damn lead and driving force because you don’t want to upset Eric Braeden ‘s fragile ego that only exists because the writers have cowtowed to this man for so long.
    • PREACH Victor being written as he was 20 years ago to support EB's ego or some misguided belief that what worked decades ago is still relevant is destroying the show. Victor comes off as a rambling old fool holding on to vendettas and a desperate need for perceived power. His children still cow-towing to him makes them look equally foolish. If the writing portrayed Victor as  more of an irritant to them then maybe it would work.
    • They desperately need another meeting spot that isn’t Orphy Genes or the Country club. Y&R is awful now but there’s at least GCAC, Crimson Lights, Society, and the Jazz room at GCAC to meet at. 4 places is definitely better than 2 and I can’t imagine these rich folks literally only eat at their damn country club.
    • I support all of this. 80 year old Victor reading lines off the table or teleprompter until it’s time to yell at someone and still being the main man driving story on the show is absolutely ridiculous to me and one of the biggest issues with the show. I respect Braeden for wanting to keep working in his old age is great and all, but WHY IS HE THE LEAD?
