I'd never seen this - a memorial to Lis Sladen from the Smith era.

I did a double take when I saw that John Bishop is joining the show.

 

I don’t recall seeing him act before, but he’s got decent screen presence, is handsome (pretty widely accepted, though I suspect that won’t matter on the show 😉) and has a certain charisma.

 
For those who don’t know, he’s a stand up comedian by ‘trade’ and has a very pronounced Liverpool accent. I do think his character will speak slower than perhaps John Bishop does normally. Certainly no Jamie Carragher or Conor Coady vibes here. Look them up...

That last one reminds me of why I generally avoid this show's fandom...

 

I have not been able to get into the show in recent years. Jodie didn't click for me, sadly, although ultimately that is down to Chibnall, who has consistently failed at the show, from writer to showrunner.

It has been three series so if Jodie was not leaving soon I would be surprised even if her series were shorter or with less specials.
