I think the two-parter structure of this series has steadily improved as it's gone along, but The Girl Who Waited is definitely up there as Capaldi and Coleman's very best work. Just incredible and I have no idea where it's going next with the second half. I also like that they have not abandoned the ongoing subplot - of Clara becoming the Doctor's ultimate Doctor-like companion, and withdrawing more and more from her own life into their shared existence. As joyous as their re-affirmation of life was at the end of the Christmas special, it also felt a lot to me like Clara refusing to deal with her loss and a normal life. This series, so far, still shows me her cruising for a rough end.

Bob Baker appears to once again be attempting a K9 solo project - this time a movie.

David Tennant and Catherine Tate are reprising the Tenth Doctor and Donna in Big Finish audio dramas next year.

Their new adventures - along with those of Kate Stewart, the War Doctor, and River Song, among others - are previewed here.

There's always violently negative and positive reaction. I think it's been pretty decent so far, but it has yet to really wow me like Series 8. That's likely part of the function of the 2-parters this year. The upcoming Zygon story is supposed to be very good.

They tend to not officially announce anyone at DW until the current series is complete, but I believe there was an intv the other day where Moffat mentioned he is already working on next year. Which appears to be what your link suggests as well...

I knew Jenna was leaving this season but I didn't know it would be this episode. As Clara was saying her goodbye, I kept expecting a last minute save which shows just how low the stakes are for me and this show. Nothing feels like it matters anymore.

I couldn't have cared less about Clara's death.

I think it's both. I feel like Clara's end should've come at the Christmas special. At the same time, one of the issues inherent with time travel as a plot device is the possibility that anything that happens can be undone. It's gotten harder and harder for me to invest in any character but it's especially hard for to invest in Clara because she's gone from being Oswin to the Impossible Girl (which they don't even mention at her death scene?) to this attempted bootleg Doctor. I don't hate Clara the way a lot of people do but I've rarely been able to invest in her. Not with the Doctor(s) or with Danny. In fact, the only times I've ever really liked Clara has been when she's interacted with her students.

But if I'm honest I have to say that something about this season just isn't working for me. I love Capaldi something about this season just feels off. Like I'm waiting for something to happen that will make this all cohesive and real.

    • The fact that there's so little action in the Y&R threads whereas I can barely keep up with the Beyond the Gates threads says a lot right there.
    • Im convinced that had Karen Huger not been in jail, Anastasia was meant to be her recurring role

    • I think Dani cares about her sister, but I agree with you. She's using this whole mess to be heard and make herself feel better. I wish Ted and Eva told her to fck off. I had to laugh when Dani commented on her and Anita confronting Ted. She acted as if they destroyed him. That's not what I saw. Dani has been dialed back from those first weeks, but I can't say she's likable. As long as she's throwing shade at Eva for her work as a hairstylist -- while ignoring that she did nothing except eat celery sticks and walk the runway -- she can kiss off. Barely tolerable, and Lindstrom is terrible in the role. I don't find him scary at all, and his money laundering plan is stupid as hell. I gagged when he texted Vanessa to ask if she was thinking about him. That's throw up time.   I just don't see how that makes Ashley any more interesting. And are we really asking for another storyline where a father connects with his adult daughter? I know there's no direct parallel to Eva's story, but come on. If you're in the minority, I'll join you. I have zero interest in any of that. -- I still fail to see Nicole and Vanessa as best friends. Nicole is grounded and stable and responsible, and Vanessa is not. It made more sense to have Dani and Vanessa being close. -- Ashley and Derek were actually OK today. I feel sorry for the actors, honestly, because they've been given nothing. It's crazy, because so much of the rest of the show is firing on all cylinders.
    • Same. But given how the writers like to have her have good moments and bad moments...and Dani has been background as of late...it's about time she had some bad moments.
    • I don’t even know why you responded to the bait.
    • I only watch for Sharon and she’s barely on. The only good thing going at the moment is Jack and Diane scenes and they’ve made Diane such a wuss lately which is making that unbearable to watch too
    • I feel like Earl Hamner and his crew brought in Richard* BECAUSE they knew almost right away that Robert Foxworth was so dull as Chase.  At any event, Richard, IMO, proved to be much more interesting as Angela's chief adversary. (*Or brought him back, depending on whether we're including the original "Vintage Years" pilot).
