Ian Buchanan's last airdate on DAYS was last week. Because he already wrapped the show months ago (filming wise), he was free to do this GH stint. The show wrote in the storyline after he finished at DAYS and he only filmed it a few weeks ago. Therefore, there was no conflict with DAYS.

They kinda did the same with Robin. I dont know why they revealed her as alive only to not touch it for a couple of months. They'll bring him back once everyone has forgotten about this

Because they quickly wrote it in at the last minute once they realized Ian Buchanan was available. They're using the break in appearance to actually flesh out the whole story.

So how long until Duke starts taking hostages? Will we learn he raped Anna out of love? What are his world domination plans?

It's very telling that his reason for returning is for Luke/Anna. That means he will die for them.

This couple has been a huge flop and nothing hides the smell.

I dunno about that. Jill just took over Y&R. Genie could easily be out earlier than expected, and we know RC wants to reunite Luke and Laura. This Luke/Anna thing is just an unnecessary time-filler.

I don't think Luke/Laura is happening again, as both actors hated it and Genie, even if she's not making a huge salary, may be more than they can afford. I think Duke is there to be the foil and ultimately the new Eli/Jerry/Ronnie/et al.

Pretty much, Carl. Duke will be trashed in order to prop Luke & Anna; then, he'll hook up with Konnie, who will have his child during one of her DID spasms.

I really wish TPTB didn't have to go out of their way to give TG a story. Seriously, it takes away from everything and it's so contrived. But you know what? I can deal with it because I think Luke & Anna are just filler and Duke & Anna are endgame. It's been a very long time since Duke has been in PC and I can wait 5 more weeks!

So basically it's similar to when Cady McClain reappeared on AMC and aired like a week or two after she filmed it and then didn't air again for like a month. They haven't taped all that much with him so the scene today was aired FAR earlier than it would have been originally with the other material shot in the same week, which will probably air around when Duke starts airing again (if that makes sense).

Clearly they're airing some stuff early. I think Kirsten Storms' return will be airing far earlier than it should have been to get her on screen before the switch to the new timeslot.

Yeah I saw those similarities as well. Cady came in around Christmas in December but didn't appear again until February/March of the following year.
