I so meant to respond earlier to answer your question but I seem to recall it happening back in 2009ish at some point. It was a way to explain how Esther lost all the money she had inherited from Katherine/Marge’s death and have to work at the mansion as the maid again but worked at the GCAC first. -

Ya know, I haven’t check actual writing credits in a long time but I definitely can sense that now! I remember Beall’s scripts during the MAB era stuck out like a sore thumb even in a sea of mediocrity. If I recall right wasn’t she fired from AMC? Of course MAB hired her. Beall probably should be writing a teen sitcom instead. -
Loved her as Bea...can't believe Long got rid of her..twice.. with Charita gone the show needed a matriarch and they could have brought in endless Reardon kids and grandkids..and with the boardinghouse constant rotation of new young trouble makers. I can't believe as Bea she was younger then I am now!

The missed opportunities abound. They could have brought Douglas to town around 1991 with his longtime prep school buddy, Spencer Olson. Or in 1999 (as played by Victor Webster, allowing Nicholas "Nicky" Alamain a few more years in limbo before being reintroduced sometime in the mid-'00s).
