I can finally try Y&R out again. It could be better, it could be worse, but at least its a change. And yes, id take the risk of the show getting worse than it is because there is also the chance it could get better. Im just happy something finally changed.

MAB didn't want to see soap vets. We would have been more likely to have seen Cindy Williams.

In this case I don't agree. All MAB did was twist Y&R's history into an abstract mess, when she even bothered. There's no point in "honoring history" when you get trash like Philip is gay and abandoned his son.

I think that was Guza/Frons, more than JFP. Sonny in particular looked like an a$$hole the entire time.

Jill is already gone and not coming back, it looks like.

"Cartini" revel in the same stuff Phelps does. If anything, they seem to love it even more, as at least Phelps does not continuously tell stories about how it is so hot to rape a woman and if you rape her in the right way, she will love you forever.

That's one of the good things she did! There was foreshadowing for that years ago, Phillip getting drunk in order to have sex, etc... We have the scene after his death where Nina informs Jill and Kay the bank accounts are virtually empty (Meaning he absconded with all the cash) It all fit together beautifully. I would have made him more apologetic, but I guess she wan ted him more flawed. It's OK to have a character flawed and act like an ass. Not giving Liz Foster a funeral, now THAT was unforgiveable.

I don't mind a flawed character, but there was no point in having Philip return as gay and as abandoning his son. They had no story in this. If they'd had a long-term story, I would have been fine with it. Instead everything was resolved in about two weeks. It seemed like MAB just wanted to show off, instead of delving into a story.

I can't believe Hinsey is going on about the vets at Y&R. Most of them are barely seen or are given degrading stories.

B&B does overuse certain characters, but Brooke/Ridge/Taylor had major story until last year. Stephanie has had major stories for years. So who's left? Eric? He's never led story.

Hinsey and her ass-kissing have been a big reason for this genre's death.

She is coming back. It was always intended as a temporary leave of absence and there's no reason to believe otherwise (a vague remark made my Jeanne Cooper doesn't count). All the talk of her being out permanently is speculation.
