May 30, 201213 yr Author Member I love the music on this series. The whole thing though is just sad. All that hatred. And it lasted till the 1970's??
May 31, 201213 yr Author Member This was well done by The History Channel. The scenery was beautiful. Viewers seemed to agree judging by the ratings, they are sick of phoney reality tv shows. Parts 1 and 2 can be seen at the history channel. http://www.history.com/shows/hatfields-and-mccoys
May 31, 201213 yr Member The Hatfields & McCoys feud ended with a massive bang on Wednesday night, surpassing the record the History miniseries set on Night 1 by drawing 14.3 million total viewers, making it the most-watched entertainment telecast in ad-supported cable history. Across all three nights, Hatfields & McCoys averaged 13.8 million total viewers, with 4.9 mil falling into the coveted 18-49 demo. What’s more, the finale’s 6.3 million viewers in the 25-54 range marks a 14-year high for ad-supported cable. http://tvline.com/2012/05/31/ratings-hatfields-mccoys-finale-breaks-record/
May 31, 201213 yr Author Member I Know These Hills: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_gx7IJ2EmA Good for the History Channel on the ratings success, maybe they'll do more of these kinds of series that are based on real life events and not that fake reality stuff you usually see!
May 31, 201213 yr Member The History Channel is making a 10 episode series about the Vikings starring Gabriel Bryne.
May 31, 201213 yr Member I'm fascinated with medievall times, I'd love something on that, Vikings one sounds good
May 31, 201213 yr Member I hope that the success of this series leads to the networks making more mini-series. Too many series are based on stories that clearly should be a mini-series. Edited May 31, 201213 yr by Ann_SS
June 4, 201213 yr Member I wanna thank you guys/gals for leading me to this mini-series. Last week, when I'd peruse the front page topics onof the Community forum, I'd notice the topic of this thread but never actually came in here, but Saturday I decided to check out the history channel and try to watch. Luckily, they'd scheduled a back-to-back marathon, so I recorded them and watched them on Sunday. I was really impressed. It reminded me of what TV used to be. When it respected its audience's intelligence, when channels like A&E was truly geared towards the Arts. And I have to say even though I've NEVER been impressed with Kevin Costner in all the years he's been on the scene, I really liked him in this. His dry acting and line delivery really worked for the character of Devil Anse Hatfield. Like many of you, I hope this is just beginning of the History Channel's involvement and broadcast of history based mini-series. Edited June 4, 201213 yr by BadAddiction
June 7, 201213 yr Member Lifetime is re-airing it. I love watching Kevin Costner in movies despite his acting challenges. There's something appealing about him (or at least there was. I'm not sure how I feel now). I might watch it the next time it's shown
June 7, 201213 yr Author Member I wonder if Lifteime is going to cut scenes out, fans will be ticked off if this happens.
June 9, 201213 yr Author Member The copycats is starting. NBC is going to do a modern day feud with Charlize Therone and John Glenn. It's gonna suck...lol http://www.deadline.com/2012/06/nbc-to-team-with-charlize-theron-john-glenn-for-modern-day-hatfields-mccoys-series/
