I think that everyone on OLTL actually totally dressed character-appropriate. The only disaster was Bree Williamson's Jess toward the end, but she had a handful of pieces over the years that really were definitively everything you'd expect from Jessica Buchanan. Even if you didn't like what someone was wearing on OLTL, I'd dare to say it was hard to argue that wasn't how that character would dress.

But the wardrobe on GH lately has been a trainwreck. And Kelly Sullivan is the worst offender. I think the styles for Carly have always been all over the place and have super varied for the different actresses. As much as I never wanted to see this, the only super 'Carly' things I've seen Laura's Carly wear were those stupid sleeveless tops where the neckline literally went down to the belly button, LOL.

A few years ago, I thought wardrobe was dressing Becky Herbst so 'Elizabeth' and Kelly Monaco's another one who's still always dressed exactly like I'd think Sam would dress. Alexis is Alexis is Alexis, I haven't noticed her look changing from Jill to Frank. I don't even pay attention to what Jen Lilley's Maxie is wearing because I fundamentally think that character is supposed to have shorter hair, and therefore, she looks nothing like how Maxie should look like to me (ditto for Kate).

But no soap currently on air is as much of a wardrobe disaster as "Days," though IMO.

Why should Maxie have short hair(btw JL was thinking up cutting her again though) I don't remember RR having it and KS came on with long hair. I hated her pixie cut the bob was flattering sometimes at different lengths but I prefered ehr with shoulder length hair. And short hair is easier for them to mess up style wise.

Just speaking for myself, I think KS' short hair became a part of Maxie's external characterization. I liked RR well enough, but to be perfectly honest with you, I think of KS as the definitive Maxie. They changed her personality into a petulant, self-serving bitch, but I thought it really, really worked and that combined with her feud with Lulu really gave Maxie legs for the first time since she was transitioned from childhood. Then working for Kate did wonders for the character and I came to expect Maxie to have edgier, shorter haircuts. I think she's supposed to look like a MiniKate and I guess she does now, but not in the right way. I didn't like KS' pixie cut, but I thought it fit the aspiring fashion editor, and I don't think Maxie's hair needs to be that short, just not below shoulder length (I remember some unnecessary experiments with extensions with KS). I know it's a weird tick for me. And I'm only referring to how I think the characters should look, I'm not critiquing how I think the actors look better doing x, y, or z or whatever.

BTW, I do really like JL. At first I thought she was doing a good KS imitation, but since the first few weeks, I think she's really come into her own and done great things in the role. And I'm not even a huge KS worshiper or anything (HATED her as "Days'" Belle), but she was one of those actresses who became synonymous with the character for me, so it took me a while to adjust to JL but I've since just adjusted my view of Maxie. I think it would help JL's Maxie buckets if she interacted with Lulu and Kate more--those have been two huge missing elements for me since she took over.

I also think Maxie should have short hair. Everyone on GH basically has Hee-Haw soap hair. Sam, Liz, Alexis, Maxie, Kate and Carly all go to the same soap style salon where the only cut on the menu is long. Maxie was the style maven, she is supposed to stand apart stylistically. Kate #1 had great hair I thought, reminiscent of the actual Anna Wintour who Kate was based on.

JL looks great with long hair. I dont think she could rock the shorter styles the way KS could and its best she not try. Not all women can pull that off and while it may have been fine for KS's Maxie, I dont think it necesarily will be the case for JL. I think her hair is fine teh way it is

They rarely styled Maxie's short hair right. Her short hair never looked edgy like Kate's. The only other soap where I saw short hair styled that badly was Diane Jenkin's last year. They only styled her hair well a handful of times. I have short hair myself. What makes it stand out is the styling. And Megan Ward's cut fit her facial structure so much better.

My biggest gripe with GH's women's hair is the overuse of extensions and that they tend to be too long. I saw a screen shot of Carly a few weeks ago where she was wearing so much fake hair I wondered how LW could hold up her head. BH's hair looks better at its actual length, just above her shoulders. KS was always given too much extra hair and it threw off her hair style.

I think the Maxie question depends on how long you've been watching GH. Robyn Richards will always be the definitive Maxie to me. She was an excellent child actress who was apparently not considered sexy enough to play Maxie when she grew up. (Too bad the same standard was not applied to the rather homely Kristin Alderson who made a far worse transition than Robyn Richards.) The BJ heart storyline is what sealed the deal for RR. Well, that and KS' ugly helium voice and the nasty personality transplant they gave Maxie when KS took over.

@Sweatpea,

LW does not wear extensions. In fact, she had to wait a few months to get a hair cut because they shoot out of sequence.

As for Maxi, I've never been so happy to see a recast. KS and her voice bugged the hell out of me. Not sure what her draw is because there's no talent and she's severely under weight!

KA is very homely and Starr should have been recast years ago, especially with a real actress!

    • When the announcement was first made, I did wonder if other plans were in the works. I guess we can always keep hoping, especially as the show has a small core cast.
    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
