Over the weekend, the rumor mill was turning like crazy with talk that Brandon Barash would be exiting GENERAL HOSPITAL when his character, Johnny, is killed off the canvas during May Sweeps. Almost immediately, his fans banned together to generate a Twitition -- aka a Twitter petition -- to save Barash's GH role.

When castmate Kelly Sullivan (Kate) retweeted the link, the actor himself spoke up and said that he has "no idea if I'm being written off. @KellySullivanNY is being a good friend and scene partner. That being said, I accept any hand I'm dealt."

So is Barash's Johnny going to join his mother/sister, Claudia, in the great big soap opera sky? Not necessarily, from what Soaps In Depth is hearing. And even headwriter Ron Carlivati is seemingly denying the news of Barash's exit, tweeting , "Goodnight, #GH fans. Sleep well. And don't believe everything you read."

I don't see the point of any of this - our "heroes" will not go anywhere, and it will be months of the same bad acting from Sonny and enablers. At most the killer will be Bensonhurst Sybil, or some bit player. No wonder the ratings suck.

What is SID taking Twitter rumors as fact?

We would get week after week of Carly, Michael etc going "Sonny did you kill Johnny?" Sonny: I hated Johnny and I wanted to kill him.... .......But I did NOT!!!

To bad its not Sonny. That would actually be a good mystery and helps revitalize the show, if done right.

It doesn't even have to be done right. The entire show would change drastically with the head King Pin of the mob being gone. Sonny is sucking the life out of the show (and the mob in general) but I actually think Ron is taking steps to make this show more well rounded with having other characters outside of the mob enable story. Sonny is the center of suck and he needs to go. Once you take him out the show will naturally fall back to it's previous pattern which was a show centralized around a hospital, police department, corporations and community events. Not mob shoot outs 24/7. If you want to save the show the answer is right in front of them --- Kill Sonny and move the entire show forward from outside the mob cloud.

If they killed off Sonny it would be the biggest funeral production in GH history with a packed church, a big choir singing with Mariah singing lead, losts of people giving eulogies about loving him, the ghosts of Adela, Lily, Emily and his dead children would escort him up to heaven. There would be a mob war the next day.
