One Life to Live Tribute Thread

@soapfave06 Tina's past lives scenes were cringe. I didn't like them what so ever, but thankfully they moved on from that too. These first months have messy moments... Also... not sure where you are watching the episodes from... if you are on youtube, know that some of the episodes are in wrong order as I recall... So some of the missing sequence may be in the future episodes, just dated wrong. I had that issue for a day or two, but then managed to figure out which episode comes after which and I filled in the missing pieces.
The domestic abuse storyline gets more interesting as time goes by, when Viki and Megan are finally involved. Then we have a pure GIRL power moment will all the women of Llanview coming together against the bad guy. I won't spoil, since I don't know how much you have seen.
Oh and yes, the Jake and tormentor scenes were another cringe, that I didn't like. I was at that time confused as to what this show is... I was hating certain aspects of it... but thankfully all this cleaned up with time and it got better and better.

One Life to Live Tribute Thread

I have made it through 10/18 and into the Jane spousal abuse plot. I am not if episodes were missing but wow they dove right in randomly introducing these folks at Wanda’s, then in their home, then suddenly Viki and Sheila were involved. I’m a little lost, so surely some of the sequence is missing.
After nearly a month they have overdone Tina and her past lives. I’m over it. It was nice to use Luna as both a friend to Tina and to evaluate her relationship with Cord but this is ridiculous and not an aspect I’ve ever enjoyed peeking into Malone era Llanview (coming from someone who loved Eterna and 1888)
The scenes of Asa attacking and berating LeeAnn at the party were astounding, made me see more in LeeAnn than prior. The following confrontation with Stephanie makes me wish Stephanie more outwardly caused trouble and shows she must be flirting with Joey to get to Kevin which is rather wild.
Not even sure what to make of Jake and his tormentor harassing him. Some of this is wild.
PS-I really enjoy the “everyday people” aspect with Eddie and Quincy at The Banner and Wanda, Luna, LeeAnn and Jason working at the restaurant. I was shook to see The Banner with an actual staff and Blair coming in.

Malone's favorite sexy rapist is probably a big factor, but even before that Jason had been steadily siloed. I wonder how much is down to Jason not being a character he created. The 1994 crop of men brought in is also remarkably bland, so that may be down to network mandates deciding Jason was not "hot" enough.
I still wish he'd stayed around, but maybe he was better off leaving before some of the bad years arrived.

John Lasell Dead: 'Dark Shadows,' 'The Twilight Zone' Actor Was 95
Guthrie was not a "vampire hunter," but that tells you how many only remember the show for Barnabas.
Lasell did a good job as Peter Guthrie, a very no-nonsense character in a tight and engrossing supernatural arc. Laura's story serves as the perfect bridge between Bill Malloy's murder and Barnabas, and was what kept the show on the air.
I sometimes wonder what would have happened if Guthrie had lived. He likely would have been killed by Barnabas, but I'd like to believe he would have stuck it out.

They already are putting Izaiah where he was at and Izaiah has more potential...and has taken up a lot of his airtime, too, so I can see this new potential storyline being his way out.
Yep. And if they do go that route, it would not be jarring at all since they have come in and out of story with appearances and mentions.

That said...I am still hoping we do get an evil rich family down the road. Anita really needs a self-made rich diva to go up again.

I find Vigard fascinating to watch, as much as Brown, but once she's gone, there's nothing left. Jennifer Cooke only finds her voice in the role post-Marland, post-booting Kelly and acting her age.
I can't help comparing Morgan vs. Nola to Lily vs. Meg. They started out very similar, and early on, Marland allowed Lily to be portrayed as bratty and get called out. Along the way he seemed to begin seeing her as much more sympathetic and was reluctant to criticize her, and the rivalry with Meg faded as Meg was isolated and had to learn some very ugly lessons.
If Meg/Dusty/Lily had continued, instead of Holden/Lily taking off, then he may have kept playing some of those old beats a second time around.

You're right that it was a very antiquated idea about female characters. Alex may have come the closest to having loved ones but still going to dark places.
I have wondered if any '80s powers that be may have wanted to make Alex darker, but Beverlee and the fans didn't want to see her go dark. I imagine Alan's departure for several years was one reason (as Alan brought out her worst, along with Roger). Another was that the Alexis Carrington offshoots on '80s soaps were often given layers which started to fade by the '90s.
The attempts from '90s writers to make Alex into a darker character were generally unpopular all around and just ended up making her a buffoon by Marj's era - if only more skillful writing and casting had been in place, but I think Amanda could have easily filled that void instead of Alex, especially since Alex grew up with some love...Amanda only ever had pain.
You make a good point about Morgan. Under Kristen Vigard, I do think we were meant to see her at least in part as immature, trying to pretend she was the woman she was not. (note that we were never supposed to question Kelly getting involved with a woman ten years his junior and trying to make her a woman).
I always question where the part would be that makes Kelly fall in love with Nola. Maybe that would entail Stacey being very sick and Kelly seeing how much Nola loved her.
