Do you think it would be a better telenovela if it was focused more on the adults with the teen character as support? I know this is adapted from a mexican telenovela but sometimes I think they should do a better job of adapting it to american tastes (i.e. more gray characters.. less good characters and bad characters, etc.).

Ugly betty was an adapatation and I think they adapted it pretty well to American tastes except for the Betty character (I would have had Betty look like a normal, curvy girl that is beautiful to the public eye but 'ugly' to the fashionistas, etc.).

My neighbor watched the original and the sequel. The original telenovela was a teen novela. The focus should not be the adults. It's a novela about young people. A girl getting a big chance to make her dreams come true and work with the popstar she's loved for a few years. I think they do a decent job giving the adults like Jake, Tracy, Dr. Masters, etc focus but no they shouldn't get more focus. It wouldn't make sense.

No Nick at Nite for me for awhile. Viacom might actually be doing me a favor by fighting with DirecTV. I suppose they expect a lot of viewers to get angry wih DirecTV and demand they return but I won't be one of them. I'll miss Totally 80s videos but I am not attached to any VH1 shows and Nickelodeon shows the same things over and over again. In fact most of their channels do.

This might put a nice dent in their ratings.

I agree. I dislike what Viacom turned all of these channels into. I will miss a few show on Comedy Central but whatever. I can adjust. I just wont pay the current pricing if they keep them dropped. Im also tempted to just drop them altogether, get local channels and watch Hulu and Netflix and YouTube on my blu-ray player.

Liking it more and more, and I liked tonight's episode. Things seem to be happening for a change. Adrianna's father, the sleazy doctor, screwed his black chic secretary in his office. Eddie's father, Max, seems to be becoming smitten with Loren's mother which is bound to create a triangle with Dr. Sleaze. Tyler scheming to reunite Chloe/Cynthia with her seemingly trashy mother and Cynthia/Chloe doesn't approve of her presence. Phil being asked by his lowlife associate to screw over his own father, and Loren freezing up in her singing performance at the end.

Thank Gosh I can watch online... After 20 episodes, I think the show is slowly coming together. I think soaps take a little longer to get going as opposed to procedurals and/or stand alone episodic television.

With that said, I totally love Melissa! She is so funny, insightful, and gets some of the best lines! I totally am interested in her family dynamic and cant wait to see what her parents are hiding from her. I'm also interested in Chloe and I think the character has a few nice qualities that dont make her a total 'bad' character.

What I dont seem to like is the central story itself... While I do like Loren and Eddie... I just dont seem them becoming a couple and wish the show would show them as friends/co-workers.. and not romantic. Plus, the only character I cant stand is Loren's mom.. ugh.

If another telenovela adaptation is done... I hope that they adapt them more to American tastes. I like shows with gray characters and what I've noticed about traditional telenovela's are that there are good and bad characters with no shades of grey to make them more 3-D.

I decided to give this yet another look. It's actually better for me online than on tv because I can skip parts. The pace of the main story has picked up a bit but the characters really haven't progressed that much with the exception of Max. They still haven't revealed whatever secret Melissa's mother is hiding that may shed some light on why she treats Melissa so terribly but going by the titles, it looks like this Friday's episode might include some answers.

Somehow Max was able to be in two places at the same time (major goof). While he was standing with Nora during the announcement, he was also in the backstage area talking to Chloe.
