OLTL: Veteran actress not going to PP

He sure does. :) But it's true, Dorian has been a shell of her former dynamic self for YEARS now. The Dorian I adore (aDorian? *sad trumpet*) lives on YouTube circa 1993/4. She can always come back if they want her to, and frankly, I think we need to prepare ourselves for the increasingly diminished capacity even Viki will most likely function in. Keeping Andrea would really sweeten the pot for me though. Man cannot live on Jess and Ford alone, help me God, and the current Stacy/Rex/Cutter/Kim/Aubrey stuff will be wrapping up and many of the players involved are wrapping up their stints with it, so I'm really wondering what kind of cast changes we'll see.

I haven't really recognized Viki in a number of years, although I am hoping PP will be a new lease on life for her.

OLTL for so long has thrived with flashy, larger-than-life, but still relateable, female characters. Even when Rauch ran OLTL, women were in commanding roles. That's what the show needs. And I don't mean these Kardashian knockoffs or these hollow camp figures. Unfortunately the only younger woman who may fit that bill is Natalie.

RS has always publicly praised FV, even if he's undoubtedly played a hand in the direction of Dorian. She may not have always been happy with what she was given, but I've always gotten the impression that she was genuinely thankful just to be working. And where some folks her age might be comfortable having a less rigorous schedule, she was always talking about how she wanted to work more more more, for artistic and financial reasons.

That's the thing, we can either accept the story that we were given or we can make things more complicated by assuming what may have actually went down. It was presented that she merely had to leave early because of her back, not that she was cut. To me, that left room for a return with PP. Frankly, there is still room for a return even if she hasn't gotten an offer. This is still a soap. And Robin has left and come back and left and come back before. She may not be back for anything longer than a big event or a short arc, but she will certainly be back at some point.

Even if it's for the second cancellation.nbe.jpg

I hope Robin can find a recurring primetime gig out in L.A. like her Dianne Kirkwood on Knots. Even Dianne was closer to the Dorian I loved than a lot of the foolishness they gave her to play in recent years. Dorian became too silly for me, and I'd like to RS get some more chances in primetime to play her perfect recipe of strength and neuroses. L.A. was pretty darn good to her compared to a lot of soap stars who've tried their hands. I still have got to see her as the ho in jail on 2000 Malibu Road.

I think she actually has a shot in LA in primetime guest work. Her resume is varied, many hit shows in there over the decades and she's worked for Chuck Lorre a few times. She needs to get her face out there, an appearance on Good Day LA and if she could land Chelsea Lately she'd be golden.

I think she's friends with Lisa De Cazotte - worked together at OLTL and Passions (I think Lisa specifically chose Robin for the role of Hecuba). She could play Daniel's mother maybe? Madison's mother?

    • Thank you. You guys come to the rescue again. I'll take a look later.   Thank you for the info!!! Now I find myself less confused. You and @DRW50 are amazing.
    • I know Passions used this trope with Ethan and Sam to drag out the paternity, but GH seems to speed through certain stories while dragging others.
    • For any other soap, I think I’d agree, but GH, I don’t know

    • Agreed, that there was some strange choices in the episode, especially at the end, but overall, that was some great drama that opens up the potential for so much future storyline. Kat vs. Eva having the most potential, especially over Tomas. I have mixed feelings about Martin/BC though. I thought he did pretty well in scenes with Smitty/MM, but the scenes of him confronting Leslie and of him throwing the books were bad lol she acted circles around him.  It’s similar to what Harding Lemay said about George Reinholt at AW; he could be brilliant in one scene, but then mediocre in the next.
    • I know some of y'all really like Brooke Kerr, and so I've tried to give her a shot, despite her frequent flat line readings and distracted "did I leave the front door unlocked?" facial expressions. But lord, she is so bad at playing a tough-talking badass that I was actually rooting for Brad today to spill the beans to Drew.
    • Googling does tend to ruin it.  For those of us who were teens in the late 1970s and early 1980s, you can't imagine how much fun it was to watch the show in the afternoons.  (It came on right after school.)  There weren't any "spoilers" at the time.  We would always try to anticipate how each crime and each mystery would be resolved, and we were ALWAYS wrong, because the stories are filled with so many weird twists and turns.   The head writer (Henry Slesar) and his dialogue writer (Steve Lehrman) invariably toss genuine clues directly into your face in the most unlikely ways, but then they provide a host of "red herrings" to completely confuse you and send you off on the wrong path.  Once the story reaches its conclusion, all you can think is Why didn't I figure that out weeks ago?  lol
    • Does the vault have the original scene and not the short flashback?
    • I appreciate that you are using AI with the knowledge of it's limitations. Some posters take everything it produces as fact.
    • And of course Mama Ru herself appeared on All My Children.
