OHHHH..... I don't actually remember that scene.... I'm sure it was said at Crimson Lights to Phyllis (Gag me)

Speaking of which if all these headwriters post Bill Bell had one thing in common, i believe its their love for giggly......rolleyes.gif

Even with Maria destroying her, she still eats the show....

It was actually to Nikki (after she told him about seeing Adam/Rafe together).

Kay Alden wrote Phyllis so differently. She didn't swallow the show, she was dynamic, in a feud with Jill...so enjoyable. Smith started making her the 'star' and it was all downhill from there.

Yep.

Alden really understood & wrote well for most of the characters (including Giggly).

However she could & did Guza a character (or ten) if it suited her purpose.

Bill Bell

Kay Alden

Jack Smith

Lynn Marie Latham

Josh Griffith

Scott Hamner

Maria Arena Bell

Hogan Sheffer

Did the show ever seriously drop under Bell? I know Adlen and Smith had prooblems and, aside from the drama, Latham had a net gain.

I'm ready for the hate...Bring back Latham! Post Bell, she was the most consistant writer and the show never felt dull. I know she wanted to do away with the Abbots but they are pretty lame at this point.

But Victor still accepted Adam. Our hero...

Was the show trying to be 'realistic' like AMC did with homophobic cracks or did the writers consider Nick's comment funny?

As Nikki aged, Smith and the following writers focused on Phyllis. Hogan has shaped GC a lot like Oakdale with her being the Carly of the show. I also see Sharon turning into Emily and Ronan a Jack Snyder will 'balls'. Cloe is Carly-lite in that relationship.

Any word on when Nikki returns?

Melody starts taping in 2 weeks and will air around Thanksgiving.

The comments from Nick were seen as funny, not bigoted. The whole story was presented as leering trash. We were supposed to be shocked at how desperate Adam was. It was made clear that this was the WORST thing a man could ever do.

Bill & Lee basically left Y&R to Kay.

When Y&R's ratings began to fall (though nothing really out of the ordinary) Kay was basically pushed aside & Jack Smith was given a chance, after he failed (and Bill died) Sony basically did power grab which led to Latham.

Latham (paired with Barbara Bloom) was an unmitigated disaster (both on & off screen) which caused The Bells to step in which is how Maria ended up with the job.

Thank you for pointing this out. LML was to Y&R what Charlie Pratt was to AMC!

Sorry if this was already addressed earlier, but when LML became HW in Feb 2006, Kay Alden and jack smith had to serve to her right, until they left in December 06?
