The Young and the Restless has cast another new contract role. American Idol's Diana De Garmo will join the cast in the role of Angelina, the daughter of mob man Angelo (Mike Starr). This is the tenth person that was added to the show's cast in the contract role this year (new-Sam, Genevieve, Eden, Avery, Ricky, Debbi Morgan's character, promotion-Colin, Noah, return-Ronan)

She starts taping Sep 22.

Is this a spoof?

No, I'm serious.

If it's not, the last damn thing Y&R needs is a mob. Is this tied to the Gloria/Jeffrey stuff that no one cares about?

I like Diana DeGarmo, and I'm a little sad she will be on this show, as she has had a successful run in Broadway and off-Broadway musicals. She deserves better than the trash they will write for her. And most likely she will be as bad as every other person they have brought in.

No it is not. Angelo has been on the show for quite some time now. He was supposed to be gone, but they got him back again. This has Sheffer written all over it.

This means Y&R will have 36 contract roles (maybe 37 if Melody comes back) and a lot of recurring players. That is just crazy.

    • The show of late has had me in hog heaven, LOL! But, really, my soaps & I are getting along just fine.  GH is excellent. BTG is beyond fabulous. DAYS is so much better.  What more could I possibly ask for? I know, 30 hours in a day?!!!
    • At the start of 1982 under Ellis/Hunt (on CBS) SFT was solidly in the middle of the 13 soaps pulling in between a 7.5 and 6.5 with high 20s share. The final week on CBS the show garnered a 6.3/23. The first week on NBC and mostly thereafter, the ratings were in the middle 3s with a 12 share! I I think under Tomlin 1 and under Glynn the show might have hit over a 4 and 14 but one week only or so.  Capitol didn't get those numbers until middle of summer and in the first few months hit the 4s and low 5. By year end it was in the low 6s/23 share but struggled for the remainder of its run.   NBC's Search was never going to get 6 / 23 shares but when they were solidly in the high 3s and 12/13 share they invariably fired the writers and producer. Dumb.
    • Wasn't there talk of bringing back Dan Kennicott at some point?  Like, sometime during the late '90's or early '00's?
    • Cliff was Logan's protégé, from the time he was a legal clerk up and until he became ADA. I think you have to have seen Deborah's father for that relationship to make sense, it is very Oedipal.  Mr. Saxon was a charming mobster and was briefly involved romantically with Geraldine.
    • If the actors in question had studied Agnes Nixon's character naming conventions, they could've saved themselves a lot of disappointment. In Pine Valley, there's no way that Wally is going to win in a romantic entanglement with Sean.  Just as Dan Kennicott was never going to be as intriguing as Benny Sago. She was more subtle than Bill Bell, and I can't be certain she even personally named all of these men.  But there is a pattern to be studied. Cliff Warner wasn't as emotionally driven as his name would suggest, but we knew Sean and Linda meant trouble before they even appeared on-screen.
    • There's also an audio-only clip on YT where Gail lashes out at Monica after learning she had had an affair with her late husband (not knowing or understanding, of course, that, in fact, he had raped Monica).  I remember listening to that years ago and thinking, "Wow, now I see why Douglas Marland enjoyed writing for her!"
    • It would be so CAMP if she just showed up dressed like this to the hospital or a Dupree family function and pretended to be Nicole

    • It's still so wild to see Jake Weary all grown up when I still remember when his mom was pregnant with him (on GL, and IRL).
    • I agree.  Of course, I haven't seen any of her work on DAYS or LIAMST, but I have seen her stuff on other shows (SFT, GH, LOL, FC and KL) and I think she was very, very good.
    • Yup, i thought it was Adamson. Backtracking...I love that Kristina knows now. Her smug disrespectful attitude toward Alexis was pissing me off. If not for the blackmailing Alexis part I would be rooting for Ric. This a been a decent sweeps period for GH, I'm liking the stories right now. Good thing I can watch third party GH clips online to keep up because Beyond The Gates is keeping attention at 2PM. It's making me miss my days of living in a 3pm GH market.
