Most miscast soap roles

Katie was NOT young when she left. Nancy Sloan has made several guest stints on B&B as Katie. 2004 I think was the last. By then, Katie was in her 40s. So with Heather Tom, they de-aged the character a whole lot and then changed her character completely.

Katie wasn't much younger than Brooke in the beginning. Approximately 5 years. Now, the age difference is something like 15 years. Which of course screws things up more considering Katie used to babysit Rick & Bridget a lot. Now they are pretty much the same age.

Just saying........ These things screws up ages on a soap. Like Lesley-Anne Down playing Jack Wagner's mother, and Jackie is supposed to be same age as Stephanie.

Figuring out ages on B&B's characters by counting what we've seen on screen is IMPOSSIBLE. Especially now that Hope and Steffy have been aged. We all know Bridget is supposed to be 20 years older than Hope. So Bridget has apparently turned 40, and Rick about 42. And since Ridge was 25-30 when Rick was born, he's now 70-ish. Which of course makes Stephanie 90-ish and Eric 95-ish since he was a senior and Stephanie freshman at collage when they met.....

THIS IS WHY I HATE B&B TAMPERING WITH AGES. It was gone way too far. Soon Hope or Steffy will have a baby and in a couple of years that kid is a teenager.........

I agree with KM being miscast as Hope. I don't care if no adult or teen played the role before her. She's still miscast because she's not lead material and isn't coming off as interesting enough to be the heroine. I've seen many actors miscast in the teen/young adult roles in recent years.

I never understood why they needed to bring these actresses on as Katie and Donna. It's not like there is a believable or close relationship with the sisters - not to me, anyway. I think they did this just so Stephanie could go around talking about LOGAN WHORES, and the show could pretend as if the Logan family grew up in a brothel.

    • This is (maybe) overly simplistic and nonsoapy, but Doug needs to go to Gamblers Anonymous, to deal with the addictive neurological excitement hits that gambling gives him - and which control his life. Vanessa needs to go to therapy to find ways to remain healthfully lusty and sex-positive, but to stay away from anyone who would demean her.
    • YT keeps commending GL clips to me. I discovered Kathleen Cullen was on in Christmas 1987. Was there any talk of making it permanent  or was this just a special visit? I wish they had made the visit permanent. I liked her chemistry with Grant Aleksander.
    • I'm not sure it's as unpopular as you think.  I just think the show knew they were in a bind, and needed a proven couple for the viewers to invest in. Trying to reunite Vanessa and Ross had just failed in 87. I don't think Ed and Holly's affair was well received, as Simon and Garrett had a brother/sister chemistry. Enter Billy and Vanessa, who give you history and an out not to try and do a Josh/Reva/Billy triangle, which would've really wrecked the relationship between Josh and Billy. I'd have been ok with trying Vanessa/Ross again, and doing a Vanessa/Ross/Holly/Billy quad for a while. I hated Nadine. HATED. She had to be the most insufferable also-ran before ATWT's Julia Lindsay. This is where I wish I knew Roger's history better.

    • GROSS. Michael Swan was hot back in his ATWT days. Now he's 76 and WAY past his hot years.
    • Since she kidnapped, locked up and tried to kill her father's wife I'd say that is still a pretty big deal
    • I'm good with the gushing, too. There aren't many soap icons like John Black, and that's important to celebrate and remember. And yes, life does go on for other characters, but as they say, timing is everything. Going sky diving the day before the funeral? And during a week of shows that were so powerful emotionally? No.
    • No. There might have been a slight pause for dramatic effect after his "death," but pretty soon after they showed him in France getting plastic surgery and getting involved with his doctor, then planning with her to bring Christina to France. (She thought he had good reason to do it; she wasn't a bad person or anything). Now that I think of it, there must have been some kind of pause before that, during the 70s. Rita was accused of killing a private patient for an inheritance when she lived in Texas. Part of the backstory was that Roger had been there, too. Not sure exactly when or how long that was.
    • I've already stated that I don't like Doug being written as this meek and submissive. It was so lame watching him leave her like that. Vanessa can divorce him, but she then needs to get her thot ass into therapy. She's not only having sex with every guy she runs into, but is now having  sex with a skeevy perv on a poker table. I'm going to give the BTG some credit here. For months, many on this board were delighting in the Vanessa/Joey flirting and what they saw as chemistry. I think we're now seeing what the writers always intended -- that Joey is a disgusting POS wannabe mobster.
