Violating Liza by swapping Jake's sperm with his, leaving Gloria to die locked in a room like an animal and killing her baby as a result of his heartlessness, shackling Stuart and leaving him in seclusion for years in the attic and never letting his special needs brother come out, gaslighting Dixie, kidnapping and selling Krystal's child on the black market, etc. There certainly are reasons for people to think Adam is a despicable person/human being. When Griffin came to town, they barely interacted until this Project Orpheus story and that was never as friends. David was clearly his employer, one who kept secrets from him, which caused a rift, and Griffin eventually quit and turned on him. Nothing about their interactions this past year suggested that they were friends, let alone best friends.
