Babe was mentioned. There were quite a few mentioned actually that you didn't list. I think Gillian was in there too. There were at least eight names mentioned between Ryan and Griffin.

I know for certain Leo and Babe were mentioned in addition to Myrtle, Palmer, Mike Roy and Leora. I have a feeling Zach and Gillian were mentioned too. Dixie was probably in there as well .

Griffin: Babe Chandler, Julia Santos Keefer, Leo DuPres, Dixie Martin, Vanessa Cortlandt

Ryan: Myrtle Fargate, Palmer Cortlandt, Zach Slater, Leora Hayward, Mike Roy (? I still can't make out for sure what CM said here but it did indeed sound like Mike Roy, which is a total WTF.)

So I am completely at a loss here with this Amanda/Jake storyline.

Amanda cheats on her husband and Jake automatically forgives her for it? No knock down drag out fight, no argument, no residual anger what so ever? No Jake going off into the night to beat down JR in a fit of spousal rage? Basically none of the usual soap trappings what so ever. It seems like Jake doesn't even have the right to be mad at her for it and the show is completely ignoring it. If I was a Jake fan or if Ricky Paul Golden did anything for me as the actor in this role I would be pissed for him. He can't even be mad at his wife who cheated on him because she has cancer. He has to be nice to her and support her through it because she is getting parts of herself ripped out to stop it from spreading. I understand that they got bigger issues but Amanda cheating had no pay off what so ever. Everyone just claps for her and cries crocodile tears because she now has cancer and the fact that she slept with another man is completely lost to everyone.

What kind of non-reaction is this? And we are supposed to buy that they are soo happy with one another? WTF?

I actually prefer the way they are handling Jake and Amanda. Its unexpected and better than him trashing on her yet again, calling her a whore. I defiently dont think they need to split up with so little time left and I think Jake realized just how wrong he was bc he was making out with Cara and telling his own lies. Jake and Amanda both accepted responsiblity for their wrong doings and are moving forward and healing toegther. I like it.

I guess my big problem with it is I don't understand why they did it if it wasn't going to have any follow through. They could have easily just had made a story about Amanda having cancer bring them together without having her tarnish her marriage by cheating. It would make swallowing these happy scenes so much easier because they would have owned that 'perfect couple' status that the writers are trying to show them as. That would have woken Jake up the same way without making Amanda look bad.

Instead the story has just been used to make Jake look like the bad husband who ignored his precious wife and he got what he deserved by her cheating. Jake doesn't get to be mad because well Amanda is sick and you can't be mad at cancer patients. It feels like the same thing they did with Liz on GH except Jake didn't even get a chance to be angry with her.

I loved the look on Erica's face when Janet told her she put her hand in Ralph's pocket....LOL. The Oakhaven stuff is just to good. Wish Annie & Marian were around again today.

Can Dixie please snap out of it and get back to normal already??...Sheesh! The slow zombie act is beyond tiring. I did love the disgusted look she had on her face when she heard about the pancakes. LOL. "Pancakes...no...." I think Cady subtly shared & expressed the same repulsion the rest of the viewers had when that mess happened.

The Leo reveal was really well done. Loved that music cue!

I've been relatively spoiler free, but I'm sure he is. And I'm kinda glad, one reason is a couple of back to life characters I can buy, not a whole DAYS style town, but also cuz we KNOW that Josh D is only back for a couple of days (I'm pretty sure that's the official statement), and if he's alive and for some reason levaes after a day, or Greens picks Ryan over him, I'd be much more upset.

Anyway, solid episode--I woulda liked the end reveal earlier, but I can live, I knwo Dave Ryan's a newish script writer, but I think he does a good job. (The only reason I could justify Krystal having all that beach stuff in her restaurant back room is she was planning to open a patio or something)

I suspect they meant his second death which was... I think... around the time David was first in town? Honestly I can't remember how he died a second time--anyone? (I can't even remember IF he died... or just left). But David being interested in Pine Valley folk back in the 80s strikes me as odd, even for this story...

Agreed with all of that. And yes Dixie's, and even Erica's mention of the pancakes I do see a bit as the earlier mentions (again under Broderick) of how ridiculous David's Libidizone was--they're aknowledging it was kinda, well, dumb...

Did David have an obit for Gillian? I can't remember the whole list now...

I think some of it is story speed up, but I actually kinda appreciated that it was done in a somewhat grown up manner. Jake gets that he played some role in it (even if what Amanda did was worse, Jake was kinda obsessed with Cara for ages while Amanda lurked around upset), and then they did realize quickly there were more pressing matters and put things in perspective. Honestly, while a lot of couples wouldn't, I think a lot of couples WOULD behave this way. It was a rare and for me refreshing take on the subject for a soap.

So while undeniably sped up, I think this cancer story IS the natural follow through.

+1

Oh so no Gillian, which makes me think any return would be a dream/ghost which I'm better with (since she did give away her heart, and did spend that awful period under Passanante, and then when Passanate ran off under firing rumours No headwriter, lurking around Pine Valley as a ghost, possessing Opal, etc)

I'm also hoping it's just a dream. There's no way Greenlee would choose Ryan if Leo were still alive!!!

I'm thinking since David injected Greenlee before she saw Leo and he insinuated that Leo was one of his patients, he was able to subliminally cause her to dream of Leo.

Oh yeah, that was an FU to McTrash and I loved it!

ITA.

+2!

I dont get why Janet wasnt more excited to see Dixie! She's been somewhat enthralled with her after she was around back in 2005/2006 and considered her to be like one of her closest friends, yet she didnt seem to be all that pumped that she's alive and living at OH with her

But they arent a perfect couple as we've seen by their last 10 months of story. Amanda has been unraveling and Jake has been pushing away. They've had some serious issues, which is why she ended up cheating. And there was follow up to it; just not what you wanted for them through. This is one thing I dont get. People have been complaining about all the happiness and gushy stuff they had last year with the perfect couple stuff, yet the show has put them to the ringer and given them something to work through and that still isnt enough bc it would have been better to write them back as being perfect. blink.png

This story isnt about Jake not being able to get mad at Amanda bc she has cancer. He didnt know she had cancer when he learned the truth and he still wasnt mad at her. He's shown some real growth and tolerance here as has Amanda and Cara as well. All 3 are acting alot more adult and responsible in the last few weeks than they have all 3. and Im glad they are.

    • Yesterday it was Theo and Jada.  Today it's Chad and Belle.  What a mess.
    • I asked my soap historian GPT to help pull together the best available sources on Daniel Pilon’s run, and here’s what the research confirms: * Pilon played Max Dubujak on *Ryan’s Hope* from 1983–88. * He began appearing as Alan Spaulding on *Guiding Light* in 1988. * An academic source notes that he appeared as **Max and Alan simultaneously in November 1988 * His later-life interviews mention major upheavals, including losing his home in the Northridge earthquake and declaring bankruptcy in 1994.  That’s the factual foundation. Now for the human side of it. I’ll admit Pilon was never my favorite Alan. The Spauldings are supposed to have that patrician, Midwestern money vibe, and suddenly here comes this very European-sounding gentleman sweeping into Springfield like he wandered in from a different soap entirely. It created a strange tonal shift, at least in my memory. Whether he was intended to be temporary is hard to pin down, but honestly, looking at what he was dealing with in his real life, I don’t know that the show ever had a truly stable window to figure it out. He was going through marital strife, while being talked about as the "next James Bond" back in Canada, and juggling work on two soaps at once is a lot. Under those circumstances, the question of whether he was the “right” type for Alan becomes almost secondary to the fact that he was working through multiple emergencies while stepping into one of GL’s biggest roles. So for me, the story of his Alan isn’t just about casting fit. It’s about an actor navigating chaos, the show adapting on the fly, and Springfield getting a very unexpected version of one of its cornerstone characters.
    • I wish Nicole had swallowed but it is what it is lol
    • You're probably right, but it's such a mistake to have Dani return to Bill. I do not want that. I like Bill, but that's probably because he's so much better than his garbage wife. Having Dani take back the guy who NEVER stopped cheating on her during their marriage would be a terrible mistake.  Yes, it's a mistake I can see Dani making. That doesn't mean I want to see it.
    • That's funny, I totally didn't think about the possibility that they'll pin this on someone else.  I assumed they'd just roll him into the water.  Obviously, I would not make an ideal hitman. I hope it's not Laura.

I knew their booty call hook ups then being friends with benefits were so going to turn into love
    • Yes it does!! And neglect! They let it drop so long and so often it doesn’t really have much meaning beyond another recurring character killed off. I kind of agree. I don’t want Emma to be SA’d, but he was a creepy professor perv at first, and we could have higher stakes if they let him be a scumbag for longer. Even to add more suspects, like Gio punched his lights out for grabbing Emma innapropriately. Or even better, she punches him, then Gio does too. He had the potential to be fun for a bit longer. I always love it when they do a shooting in the snow on this show lol.

I went back to see how teen Sami even figured out how to sell a baby in 1993, and the recap is unintentionally hilarious. The exposition is so blunt it feels like the writers drafted it between bites of lunch. Suddenly there’s a teen mom named Karen who sold her baby through a shady lawyer, and somehow Sami just… knows this man and pays him with hospital volunteer money. You can tell they were trying to make the whole thing “plausible” enough, but also knew the baby wouldn’t be gone long enough to justify a real subplot.  I know one thing, if Karen had confided in Jamie, Sami would've never met Steve Miller. Jamie knew that snitches get stitches. Not to be confused with the horrific Stephen Miller, who was 8 in 1993. AND Just to show the audience how shady Steve the lawyer could be, he was played by this guy -- Character actor Terry Wills was cast as creeps on every sitcom in the 1980s.
