Members JaneAusten
I think its smart. They know its risky, they probably can't pay them as much, so they are trying to entice folks over with more. It could be a great gig for the older vets or the really young talent but for the people in the midst of their careers like Jacob for example hard to say. I don't know all the details so of course its all speculation.
Members dragonflies
I dunno, they can't even guarantee putting them on other shows will even work, or they would even be on for long. They produce them don't they, or do they own them?
Members marceline
This is a case where I blame a poorly written article. If these actors know that PP has other projects it only makes sense they would want to know if they have an inside track. If you work for a company with offices in a cities you like, wouldn't you want to know if you get first dibs at job openings? ("Hey boss, I'd like to apply for that gig in the Honolulu office!") Unfortunately the way this is written makes it sound like PP is begging these actors to relinquish their worldly possessions and move to a compound in Waco. And maybe they are. Who knows? Members DRW50
I don't see if this is any different than something like the contract Gloria Loring used to have at DAYS, where she would be guaranteed roles or chances at roles in various NBC primetime shows. Members DRW50
I know they want to keep as much of the cast as they can but I wonder how really desperate they would be, especially since the casts, as talented as they are, weren't able to help keep the ratings up. The days of soap stars with high Q ratings seem to be over, with the exception possibly of Eric Braeden and Susan Lucci.

Members JaneAusten
See thats my point I think. Keep the cast I guess but who cares really. IA with you. The Q ratings today are meaningless. I mean Kim Kardashian and Snooki both have high Q ratings I expect would you hire them? Well maybe ABC would. But I get them trying to entice talent over but it almost sounds like they haven't thought through who the really marquee names are they need to keep or who they really need. I honestly dont think they NEED anyone.Maybe they think these people are vulnerable they can get them cheap because me I would look at who anchors each part of your show and secure them. The rest really can come over or can be recast.
Members JaneAusten
They just hired the lead technology person now and they expect to be ready by January? Maybe Marceline had a point and they go to Hulu first and transition over because I wuold have expected the infrastructure part of this to already have been in the development stages by now. Members dragonflies
Yeah they're not filling me with confidence that they know what they're doing.......JY is right, if they don't have most of this in place by September, then January launch date is optimistic at best
Members Saving ATWT
I hope PP finds a strong network partner to repurpose these shows until the online network idea really catches on and becomes like second nature for viewers. I could see Lifetime being a good fit but would much rather see a broadcast outlet like CW, MY Network or even ION pick up these shows if the intention is to keep OLTL and AMC PG rated content. ABC owns a stake in so many cable channels so my bet goes with them.
Members JaneAusten
Well technically its Disney who has the ownership and if these shows end up anywhere on cable it will be on a Disney owned network IA. CBS/Viacom(?) own the CW so I don't see that happening and these shows really don't fit with their target demo of 18-30 female audience( a fact many choose to overlook). Disney owns fully all the ESPN networks, all the Disney Channels and Soapnet. They have 30-40 percent interest in all the A&E networks and 30 percent in all the Lifetime Networks. Lifetime was doing well, then went into the crapper, and I think it doing better with some successful dramas and reality shows. How much better I don't know. Members JaneAusten
I think they have money. lots of it and probably some decent venture capital. I find it hard to believe January is a realistic launch date but remember Prospect has not said a word themselves about when these shows will launch so I think while there is a lot of rumors and such out there, we should probably wait until they actually make a stmt themselves. Members Jonathan
The best way to entice La Lucci to continue is to give her a primetime role on one of their shows.
