Excerpt.

“I’d just like to go on the record saying that I love Susan Lucci so much,” Kelly, still the co-host of “What Not To Wear,” chimed in. “I think she’s fabulous.”

In response to a question from a reporter about whether “The Chew” had thought about incorporating exiting day time stars into the new program, Elliott said they hadn’t, but he plans to look into it now.

“Wouldn’t that be fun,” he said, referring to Lucci in particular. “She’s Italian. She could bring on lasagna.”

What is the royal "we"? Frons gutted ABC Daytime. The people who were there for most of the 70's and 80's, up to the early 90's, deserve the credit, not Frons or the people before him like the one who came up with the Todd rape doll.

For someone who built his career from soaps you'd think Pratt wouldn't be as blase. Then again he seems to still be stuck in Melrose Place. Too bad he didn't work on the revival instead of going to AMC.

I don't have a problem with anyone from The Chew, at least those who haven't made "get over it" type comments. I won't be watching but I can't blame any of them.

As for soap people being on these shows I'd be surprised if Frons doesn't get Budig or Mathison on somewhere.

"We're on at lunchtime on a network show talking about food, it's a gift from God" says #TheChew EP Gordon Elliott

“Wouldn’t that be fun,” he said, referring to Lucci in particular. “She’s Italian. She could bring on lasagna.”

Not that I dislike Gordon Elliott. I used to watch him in the wee small hours of the morning when I had to get up early to finish papers in high school. I have nothing against anyone involved with The Chew though I take issue with Mario's crass ass, and then of course there is Frons. But it's kind of like when a nice new family (with a creepy uncle) moves into your beloved neighbors' house that they lost to foreclosure. You feel sorry for your neighbors but you can't slight the new folks for getting a chance at something better for themselves.

Brian Frons is an absolute buffoon. Every time he opens his mouth to comment about AMC & OLTL he angers me to no end. He is an incompetent hack who truly deserves to be unemployed. Thankfully PP licensed the shows and hopefully proves once and for all what we soaps fans always knew the soaps are viable and Brian Frons is an ass.

Yes, Frons sucks, but he's not the most evil soap executive to ever exist. Do you fail to realize that PP wouldn't have licensed AMC and OLTL if Frons and others at ABC didn't allow it? I guess the answer is "no," because Frons and others at ABC never deserve credit for anything.

Honestly, I have heard enough Frons bashing (and other types of whining) from ABC soap fans to last me a lifetime. Compared to the nothing--absolutely nothing--that the P&G executives did for fans of their soaps, the ABC soap fans ought to be extremely greatful (to Frons and others at ABC) for this Prospect Park deal. Instead, many ABC soap fans still act like spoiled little babies.

Considering that Frons meddling pretty much drove the ABC soaps into the ground in the first place, my graciousness towards him runs fairly low.

He did NOTHING as these shows died painful deaths over the last ten years. He did nothing, and Anne Sweeney did NOTHING. Except for make it worse.

So yeah, I'mma keep holding him accountable for the travesty that is ABC Daytime.

Frons is still the reasons the shows were canned in the first place, and I highly doubt HE orchestrated this deal. The higheer ups at ABC and Disney are the ones that will benefit the most from this.

Wow thanks so much for that enlightenment Max. I really didn't know that I was a part of the ABC fans that whine and complain about Brian Frons. Not only on his watch at ABC 3 soaps were canceled but no he doesn't deserve to be vilified he deserves to be praised. Thanks so much for showing me the light.

I never said that Frons doesn't deserve to be held accountable. And if the ABC shows were indeed going to be gone forever, then I wouldn't be bothered by this endless bitc#ing.

I readily acknowledge that I often come across as an a$$hole. However, the continued trashing of Frons/ABC/Disney is, quite frankly, extremely insensitive to fans whose favorite soaps did not receive the Prospect Park treatment upon cancellation. Unfortunately, it seems that this fact is lost on quite a few ABC soap fans.

And I get the distinct feeling that some people (though certainly not all or even a majority) feel the ABC soaps are more "deserving" of being saved because those soaps are the "hip," "contemporary," and "socially relevant" soaps, while the P&G soaps are the domain for those who wear dentures and drive Crown Victorias or Buicks. (So when ATWT and GL got cancelled, it was treated as a non-event; but when AMC and OLTL got the axe, the world as we know it came to an end.)

I see your point, Max, but I grew up on P&G soaps, I loved and hated them, I went back to watch them both in their last year - they are "my" shows, emotionally, in a way the ABC soaps will never be. So for me it's not about P&G against ABC. It does suck that P&G let their shows die, and probably made little to no effort to sell them. It sucks that they're gone, especially since ATWT could be a popular show today if someone had given more effort. It sucks that MADD came along and turned the P&G soaps into bad ABC clones. But ultimately I can't say yay Frons just because the ABC soaps have another chance and the P&G soaps didn't. Not after his track record.

I should also point out that Frons canceled Search for Tomorrow not once, but twice, and that was one of P&G's most beloved soaps.

Pretty much.

That's the sad part.
