The finale of AMC does concern them to a point, depending on what is in the finale. If they want some moments to stay untied then I can understand that. If they were that controlling, they would have nixed all the high-profile returns that most shows only do when they're finishing for good.

I can see why you have doubts about this move but I can't really say this is a horrible blunder because pretty much everything they've done so far has been spun as a horrible blunder.

But who says that PP is even doing that? (Not that that aren't well within their right to throw in their two cents.) All that item says is that because of the PP *deal* the original plans are being reworked... that could be a purely LB/AN thing because they now know that the show will live on. I get what the *actor* is saying, great stuff that we would have enjoyed, but now not so appropriate as this really isn't the end. And again, these folks wanted (or at least said they wanted) AMC to continue. PP is going to make that happen. If LB/AN or whoever is genuinely upset that their great planned ending won't come to be, all I can say to that is be careful what you wish for.

So far it sounds to me like AMC is still continuing along with what Agnes said months before we found out about PP - the finale would have endings but also cliffhangers.

I guess it depends on which actor is upset about the material. It sounds to me like Tad and Dixie, Zach and Kendall, etc. will still have happy endings, and Erica will probably have an ending fitting to her. Perhaps the new ending calls for Rylee to take an acid bath?

The only ending I may be sad about is the Hubbards and that has little to do with PP, it's more the baby switch story.

I just think PP is getting a raw deal. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Unless you know, you don't know, and PP is probably scrambling day in and day out to get this thing all legit and off the ground. They have immense pressure from the fans and from the industry at large that's looking to see what the hell they make of this. The only anger I can really understand is from fans who wanted the show dead and buried on ABC in Septmber and had no desire or hope for an AMC beyond that and now feel they might be "cheated" out of their ending. ♫These. Are. The. BREAKS!♫

I'm not terribly worried that we won't get a "proper" ending because frankly we all have a different idea of what that would be. I just want them to decide and focus on getting it done because the longer things stay up in the air the greater the possibility of dropped threads and choppy editing and episodes where Tad goes from his house to the Chandler mansion to Krystal's to Jesse's to the police station all in the course of one show or Pine Valley goes from night to day and back to night in ten minutes.

The actors (and we) deserve better than that, especially the ones who are returning. Last minute changes and rewrites screw with the quality. Write the show and let it end without all that chaos.

As great as this news was for the fans, I think the worst thing about this whole scenario was PP being pressured to go to press (and to deliver a fully realized product) before they were ready to do so. It's the rush and frenzy that will potentially hurt this project, bugging out fans along the way. I get the whole, "Lose 'em for a week and you'll lose 'em forever" thing or whatever, but I wish folks had more patience and chill because I'd gladly wait weeks, months for them to iron this thing out rather than having them throw some slapdash crap on the web or cable. It's the crap that's got the soaps steady losing fans for the last two decades damn near.

Honestly I think it's far more urgent here in the online echo chamber. That's why we keep getting scoop, buzz and gossip instead of news and facts. There's just no perspective here. I don't think PP is guilty of half of what we've been told but nature abhors a vacuum.

Totally agreed. There's so much ridiculous speculation--on another forum a bunch of posters who hate the David story (and are convinced ALL these actors returning will be brought to life by him, none are dreams, etc--something I don't buy, but anyway) claim that LB and AN are forced to do this story to keep the possibility of dead characters being on the online version, bla bla. Which is obviously ridiculous cuz the story was started before the PP news broke...

My only real worry still is about if Canadians will have access. While there will prob be ways to view in good quality for free the way I do with *ahem* HBO shows, I would liek to support these shows and could justify $10, I mean that's like a drink and a half when I go out to the barbut I do agree that woul dhave to be the high end of the price, I can't picture anyone really paying more except some really hardcore (and decently off) fans.

As far as Canada goes, since they weren't canceled there, I'd say it's likely the current networks airing them would buy the rights to continue airing them, if the ratings are good in Canada. If it's true they'll still be five-days-a-week and named AMC or OLTL, then I don't see why they'd get canceled in Canada.

    • I totally agree with this, as most of you seem to. Mary Carney was at least competent and reasonably likable; I just feel like she barely had anything of substance to do before she was abruptly given the hook. And I get the backstory of Kathleen Tolan having done a play with Helen Gallagher, but...at any point did they ever actually READ her before they greenlit her? Because...OOF. First time I saw her on SoapNet was right when this GODAWFUL actress named Charity Rahmer played Belle on Days of Our Lives for all of three weeks before she was mercifully recast; her line readings were straight out of a Charlie Brown special. I remember thinking Kathleen Tolan could have played her mother! In the Frank/Jill/Delia triangle, Delia WAS the one who was cheated on, so I got why she was upset and thought it was perfectly valid in theory at least, but of course it was blown up to Wagnerian proportions including falls involving staircases and tricycles. But with Pat/Faith/Delia I had no sympathy for her...especially because it was mainly with Catherine Hicks's Faith and I really liked her.
    • I was going through those episodes from 1984 and early 1985 before they were taken down. Some of the older characters, like Don and even Tom, looked a little out of place, like they were on the wrong show. But the newer characters were fun. It's too bad they lost the character of Melissa. I guess Jennifer took her long-term place on the canvas.

    • The black and white episodes of the show are very special. An atmosphere the color run loses. Dark Shadows was filmed live-on-tape. They could do a retake but it would be very expensive. I think there was a claim that if actors wanted a retake they would curse. There was also a rumor that at one point Joan Bennett accidentally said "Hollywood" instead of "Collinwood" and that necessitated a retake.

    • It is a shame that more characters didn't go the ATWT-Barbara route and make the ingénue into an antagonist. Sort of like they did with Liza/Hogan/Sunny, less successfully. It is a credit to ATWT's creativity that breathed life in that character for years after she was fighting off bulls in Spain.  But, a character like Liza can only have so many true loves and high jinks on the high seas.  They need another reason to be in the story. Liza's wealth, as well as her acumen to see through fraud, was fertile ground for tons of stories.  But, I feel like the business stories for Liza were always about her being easily overwhelmed, rather than exploring things like her leadership and managerial skills.
    • STFU!! Dante!!! This nonsense of blaming Gio is just ridiculous! Alexis and Lucky are becoming so unlikable. Why are the writers writing these characters so poorly?
    • Keith still comes off younger to me. I thought he wasn't that bad for his first day.
    • To be fair, they were only recently step-siblings.  Their parents married within the past few years.  And, Draper's father Ansel was not coy about the fact that he married Raven's mother, Nadine, for the money. And, Raven's sort of sticking it to April that not only can she have a baby (April has a heart condition that makes it difficult for her to carry a child to term), she could also have April's man, if she wanted him.
