Yeah, I wouldn't get too wrapped up in this business about the ages of the adults. On the other hand, I don't see why people are in such a rush to age the kids. Let the kids be kids, there's plenty enough for the adults to do, and bring on some new adults or former characters, but let the kids play their Degrassi-aged storylines when the time comes, and it'll come soon enough. Say J.R. took his own life, sure, it could be a little interesting to start AMC with A.J. a young teen still dealing with the strife of all that, but for one, I am so not interested in watching A.J. do what J.R. has done for the last few years, be a spiraling assh0le. It would be very easy to say, "Oh A.J.'s been a handful ever since J.R. died, and it's just getting worse", but again, we've done that. The inevitable A.J./Miranda pairing, frankly, I can wait. SORASing ages the children's parents more than anything. Bianca and J.R. don't need to be grandparents by 2013. If the show makes it that far.nbe.jpg

Speaking only for myself, I have no attachment to any of these kids. I'm not one of those viewers who is all about core or legacy characters. I agree that they are an important part of the show but a boring or intolerable character doesn't become less so just because they get jackhammered to a core family. (Exhibit A: Greenlee) and if I find a character interesting I don't care if they have the core/legacy pedigree (Exhibit B: Madison).

This reminds me of all the fuss I see about the character of CJ on OLTL. For years I've seen people begging for the return of CJ. I don't know why. He hasn't been seen since he was in kindergarten, his best friend Al is long dead and his family barely acknowledges his existence. Yes, he's Cord/Tina's kid but that didn't do Sarah any good. There's this group of fans that has bestowed CJ with some kind of mythical show-fixing power. He's like Prince Arthur to them. One day CJ will show up, pull the sword from the stone and all will be restored. It doesn't matter who plays him or what story he gets, the show just needs CJ and it's all based on nothing but his bloodline because in reality CJ would be one more in a long line of throwaway 20 to 30 something himbos like Cutter, Joey, Schulyer, Kyle, Fish, Ford, Brody, etc...

You certainly have a point, and in the past I've also conceded that C.J. would be a no-brainer character to bring back. But what has being Viki's sons done for Kevin and Joey lately? I liked the latest actor playing Joey, but he was for the bulk of his stay written as a joke ("Jokey"? unsure.png ). But in One Life's case, their bigger issue is their treatment of men in general, and they have no use for a man like Joey and C.J. would only work for them if he was written as another spin on Jared/Cutter/Ford.

But yeah, there are certain characters who I want to like because of who they are related to. SMG Kendall was very easy for me to hop on board with, SMG was kicking ass as this obnoxious troll and the fact that she was Erica's daughter just made it all the more spectacular. The stuff AM and even ER had to play was hit or miss with me. CBL, I really do like her but they need to get it together with her Bianca and I wouldn't lose a wink of sleep if they ditched the Marissa thing. I do think being Erica Kane's grandchild is an awesome pedigree, and I admit, I do expect more for Kendall and Bianca's kids. At least one of those kids needs to be hated and envied, totally running sh!t at their high school. Any character can be written like crap, but I think being tied to a core family is a great head start because of established audience relationship. Throwing that away in my opinion is pretty unwise (again, I look to OLTL and Flash/Sarah as an example).

I can't remember when it mattered to AMC to share OLTL's timeline. I think it was during the Ace/AJ/Miranda/Bess Baby Switch.

But let's look at the current canvas. All the players in that story are gone. Babe, Jamie, Kelly, Kevin, are all gone. Ace and Bess are dead while AJ and Miranda are step siblings.

Frankly I would like it if AMC absorbed a few OLTL characters. I think it would be great to add some OLTL/GH characters to the new AMC: GT's Kelly, DG's Kevin, would fit in nicely. RJ Gannon and Jamie Vega could cause trouble for everyone. RJ vs. Liza vs. David could be insane. Kelly vs Madison could be great. Jesse vs RJ vs Bo vs Jackson? Angie vs Lindsay vs Maria.vs Bianca.

There's nothing but potential in these new shows

And really, the boys at OLTL seem to get their rocks off sending up all of the soapy inconsistencies and WTFs the genre has become famous for. They embrace that kind of stuff. laugh.png

I think that AMC and OLTL will become closer now than perhaps they ever were. It'll be a tighter operation with even less cooks, Valentini looking over both shows. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some crossing over. Even Jesse and Bo teaming up for a little caper would be fun.

I love you friend but I desperately hope you are wrong about this. I want AMC and OLTL to develop completely different identities. AMC needs to find its own voice again

But I love the idea of a Jesse/Bo/John McBain/Derek Frye webisode. Preferably with a Snoop Dog cameo.

Well, I can buy that FV will let AMC be AMC, though he will certainly have a vested interest in OLTL, that's just a given. But I think he may have fun with this new venture and do more gimmicky things like those "What If?" crossovers or whatever in this new format.

I don't know why, they have of course told us otherwise, but I can't shake the idea that these shows will not air 5/days a week, 52 weeks/year. I just don't believe it's gonna stay that way.

Of course there's the obvious Erica/Dorian pairing, but for some years now I've thought that a lunch date with old publishing colleagues Viki and Brooke would have been a really charming scene. Whether the scene occurred on AMC or OLTL, there's always the opportunity for Erica or Dorian to drop in the restaurant and say something catty as the ladies finished their meals. Dorian and Brooke would certainly know of one another via Adam and the fact that Dorian was a publisher too, and of course Erica and Viki would know one another.

So we have three weeks left of OLTL taping for ABC and we still don't know anything official yet. We don't even know for sure when it will last air on ABC in January. I swear I am trying to be patient but this not knowing sucks. I want to know what's going on with AMC even more because I truly miss it. I have been watching the "classic" episodes on SoapNet just to see some of my favorite characters. But honestly we have to find out something definitive over the next couple of weeks right?

Youtube announced this was coming a while back, and it will probably hasten the end of youtube as we know. If the site is running original and professional shows by the WWE, Ashton Kutscher and whoever else looking to make a buck with commercial laden content, then how is that youtube anymore? Where is the "you" in that?

    • Keith D Robinson is 49. Maurice Johnson is 46.
    • I hope they give him more to do than just be a prick as you say. I can see how viewers would like him because the actor is so charming despite the character being such an absolute pain.    I would agree. And there was also the undercurrent of Raven and Draper sort of flirting with each other. The actors play that attraction and it worked so well in that scene.
    • Daniel Cosgrove is PERFECT as the sleezy politician. This might be my favorite role of his. All of these people keeping Kristina’s secret is so annoying. I really want her to pay.
    • What did happen to Beth between 86 and 89? Did she have amnesia?
    • I actually thought he came off as younger. It's so hard to buy Martin as Nicole and Ted's son unless they had him when they were 12.
    • @chrisml Isn't remarkable that, on a soap whose brand is built on twists and mysteries, that Raven's last straw was as simple as Logan saying that she was incapable of loving Jamey.  In the episode when Raven exit's and leaves Jamey with April, I can remember feeling the subtext that Raven is also trying to talk herself into leaving him behind.  There's so much in that little scene.  She's trying to stick it to Logan for saying she was a bad mother.  She's both granting April's wish, and damning her with the old adage of being careful what she wished for.  And, she's hinting to Draper that she's going to boff his father. It remains my favorite scene, and it still blows my mind that was not the end of that episode.
    • Oh lord not Drew just figured out it was both Nina and Portia that set him up. Willow WILL never leave this man. Ric taking the case purely just to spite Sonny is [!@#$%^&*].ing hilarious.
    • And in addition to Patti being de-aged, she was no longer a nurse, divorced from Len(fair enough) and her two children were not seen and barely mentioned. So basically she was a totally new character. For newer viewers it didn't matter but any loyal viewers would have been wondering about all the changes with Patti. Sarah Whiting always puzzled me. The writers finally decide to acknowledge Jo's family and do so by making up a never mentioned adopted teen. Why not just bring in Tracey, Jo's actual grandaughter? As for Liza, perhaps it would have been wise to rest the character when Sherry left. They were big shoes to fill and her Liza was so identified with Travis. I don't recall what was going on in the story at that time but if they knew Sherry was leaving, write it so Liza would leave town to care for an ailing Janet and take a breather with the character for a few months.
    • Ahh interesting. Yeah, that's sad for A-M. I will say, he and Nick became fast friends when Susan started working at Spaulding. A-M/Lucy/Nick/Susan had a lot of double dates in those 7 months. A-M was Nick's best man at his wedding to Susan, which now that I think about it, is odd that he wouldn't have considered Fletcher. I remember those two were so close at the paper, and even living together with Ben. Once Tangie left SF, Nick left the paper, and Fletcher/Holly were rarely seen... so I guess they felt that friendship wasn't shown often enough anymore (which again, lazy writing).
    • I honestly don't think Alan-Michael ever really had a friend on the show. Maybe Cameron or Samantha, but otherwise... *Cameron was a high school friend who ended up dating teenage Dinah after she broke up with A-M. Samantha is Phillip's biological sister, who A-M treated like a sister. Interestingly enough, they were born the same week on the show in 1981, but A-M ends up being older than her when she returns to town in '89.
