Members EricMontreal22
ANd yes I'm playing catch up--that timeline is GREAT (though I'm not sure AMC is remotely one of the more histrionic soaps...) That's an error saying that Joe had a son called Joey back at the start, right? LOL Do they mean Bobby? I also seem to have blanked out Annie accidentally killing her best friend--who? Members quartermainefan
My favorite passage in the timeline is the one for Donna. This is where soaps lost their charm. They don't have such crazy stories anymore. The most interesting item from the last page (2000s) is the one about Erica's son. I love the fact that not only is Donna sterile, not only is she hit by a train, but she gets amnesia and her miracle baby dies anyway. That doesn't happen on soaps today. No one gets hit by trains, no one gets sterilized or gets amnesia...no one gets nothing.

ETA: Coincidentally, DC did an interview with my local paper where he pretty much states that he retired by choice and not because of the move. Members JaneAusten
I had heard one of the reasons they killed off Stuart was because DC was tired of the 5 days a week grind. Now they could have easily written Stuart off or killed him off differently but that was one of the rumors going around at the time. He's had a lengthy and respectable career and I still say next to Zaslow the best actor around over the years. Yes even over those that are more celebrated.
