Why? Because she took a job? Its not like if that talent would have all said no Frons would have said "well since we can't do this show with these specific people we won't do the show and we'll leave soaps on network tv." No he would have found other people (please look at all the people auditioning to be food network/design stars) or come up with another concept and still cancelled the show.

This is like asking a Yankee fan to not boo a Red Sox pitcher with "why, because he tries to win?"

Yes, because he took a job. Or she, or whoever it is they booed. Screw them and the crapfest TV show they rode in on.

Someone should have warned Carla to not go around a group of AMC fans getting ready to say goodbye to their show by going to The View. I'd find it objectionable if someone cornered her and told her off at Whole Foods and threw poultry at her. (That's a reference to an old story Marcy Walker shared about being at a supermarket and someone through a frozen turkey or chicken her way because Liza Colby was just so evil.)

I did a complete spit-take, and then I read the rest...

Yikes.

Nice article written by Michael E. Knight.

http://www.thedailyb...show-s-end.html

Insightful and quite realistic article.

"A smaller audience, more specifically targeted through an online network, may yet save the day. We will see. If so, I hope the show’s future is more successful than its recent past."

Sad PP did not realize AMC and OLTL badly need an infusion of fresh EP and writers.

It's just a matter of time before we get TMZ video of one of the Chew hosts going off on a drunken tirade about soap fans. My money's on Batali.

That piece was so thoughtful and well-written it actually makes wish he wrote professionally so I could read more of his stuff.

No, it's not like that. The Yankees and the Red Sox play a game. They compete with each other. One will win. Either one will win. You can jeer the other side because it puts them at a disadvantage.

AMC and that food program are not competing with each other, so it's absolutely pointless to boo someone who has no control over anything whatsoever. Besides her atrocious style. But that's not the point.

ITA. Although his backyard would at least look more like PV than that park.

ETA: Coincidentally, DC did an interview with my local paper where he pretty much states that he retired by choice and not because of the move. (I didn't realize he was from Ohio!)

Thanks for posting that. I know some people will still completely refuse to believe it wasn't a conspiracy on the part of Frons to get rid of him. (In fact, even with Frons' lack of interest in vets, he never seemed to have much issue with Davi Canary's screentime).

I had heard one of the reasons they killed off Stuart was because DC was tired of the 5 days a week grind. Now they could have easily written Stuart off or killed him off differently but that was one of the rumors going around at the time. He's had a lengthy and respectable career and I still say next to Zaslow the best actor around over the years. Yes even over those that are more celebrated.

I agree there. And yes--before Stuart died there was a ton of gossip (on the usual sites of course) about how he was sick, wanted out, tc. I think some of this was obviously exagerated, but it is true that the last few times he played Stuart were... a bit disappointing--he didn't seem as comitted to it in all honesty, like he was tired. It's a damn hard schedule to keep up so long. Of course he might have been able to get a lifetime contract the way Ruth Warrick, James Mitchell, etc, did and make the odd appearance over the following years when he could, but I think it was a different situation.

They should've gotten Greg and Jenny to return for the final few episodes, that would've been magical

And who was it that said The View was taped live? UH HUUHHHHHH

Jenny back from the dead would have been too much for me--she was killed on screen in 1984! But a ghost appearnace woulda been nice, still with all the returns I would have liked they would have needed at least one more week.

I have no affection for The Chew whatsoever, but i have to say booing one of its members is pretty juvenile. It's one thing to complain to ABC, though it's pretty futile, but as others said, she did just take a job.

I think Canary's feelings coincided with Frons's interests. And I think he nudged things along West hoping more vets would vanish, and I've heard that before.

As an AMC fan AND a woman of color, I'm disgusted that she was subjected to that. It's a TV show, not a school in 1960s Little Rock. This woman did nothing wrong and harassing her only serves to confirm the worst stereotypes of soap fans.

Oh I think there's some truth to that, though it was also more than hinted at that Canary stayed on a little longer than he had planned so he could have his exit with Brooke.

What part of "it's live Monday through Thursday" or "every day except Fridays" didn't you get?

So I take it you're not a baseball fan.

You know I agree 100%.

I apologized for misreading the information like 5 posts up...

Eric, I definitely didn't mean alive Jenny. But if they're gonna bring back ghost Leo, Gillian and Babe, I don't see why Jenny would be out of the question.
