I tend to think the show is now using Siobhan to convey the feeling of the general audience about this character. I don't think despite the online rah rah for Liz on a couple of message boards, she's generally a well liked character or viewed in anyway as a heroine. I am taking that from commments one of the writers on GH had in an interview about the Jason/Sam/Liz triangle about 6 months ago. I think she generates buzz online and why females especially pitted up against her tend to garner more support than they had. I think shes a great soap character, I just don't find her the heroine or moral good girl they try and portray her as and thats a failing of the show and the writing. And this is all JMO so don't read anything more into that. BUt I think the character in general has gotten a free pass by those who have been considered the moral centers of this show now, people like Robin, who giggled at her affair with Nikolas without a thought about Lucky and her engagement to him at the time, and now champions her going after Lucky again. She almost kills 2 patients at the hospital but Robin thinks its ok for her to be back. Oddly her brother SLW who I generally don't like is the voice of reason in this one. Surprise Surprise Robin is wrong again(*insert eyeroll).

Even though people felt Liz was gutted during the Liz/Nikolas affair, only Lucky and Lulu called her out, Lucky forgave her in a week, she got institutionalized for what no clue, they never did explain it, and she got her own personal "named actress" patient to be used to say "hey what you did was ok because I did it too" and was just a mistake of the heart. Sure Carly, Sonny, and Jason get free passes but Carly and Sonny are not considered "good moral" characters and Jason is a boring robot. And I have the same opinion of Sharon on Y&R. I thought getting Liz off canvas for a while was a good plan and they could have brought Becky back in 6 months. Sometimes a character just needs a break.

As for the catfights, sure they can be fun and GH has lacked any kind of female adversaries for so long, its kind of refreshing in a way but the Siobhan/Liz stuff is already getting old. Its on everyday and at some point loses its teeth after a while. And I like complex female relationships and its one of the things soaps have tossed away over the years in trade for food fights and bitch fests. Real complex female adversaries like the days of Monica and Lesley were great. Catfights lose their impact if overdone. But I guess at least stuff is happening which is more than whats been happening on GH over the last several months.

Uhm how has Liz remotely gotten a free pass? Seriously give me ONE example. Cause that's a huge WTF? She is the ONLY one called out on the affair with Nik, Shrewlu basically ignored Nik's part in it. His part in it got whitewashed. Liz was called out at her place of work in front of her co-workers, so much to the point, she might as well have worn a scarlet A on her chest.

If that's a free pass, then I don't know what to say. :nbe:

Who lied to him about that moustache? Then poor fella got makeup on is collar when he changed into the black tee. Well bless him, I could definitely picture him as part of the ensemble in some American Pie-type college humor flicks.

It's funny because there's so much truth in what Siobhan is telling Liz. Yes, she's stalking her in their confrontations but at it's core it's the fact that Siobhan has her number. She sees that Liz has always been content to play the victim and rely on men than take control of her life. And if it's not Lucky then Jason as evidenced by her literally rushing into his arms to be comforted. And before that she's was waffling between "loving" both Lucky and Nicholas in her cheating. In order to deflect blame off herself, she tried to put the affair on Nicholas and accuse him of chasing her. Thankfully Nicholas called her on it.

And even though Siobhan wasn't there to witness Lucky's addiction as Liz pointed out, she knows it's a stupid idea to have Lucky investigating the case because... it's stupid idea! The fact that Liz thinks she's the one who really knows Lucky and knows he wont be tempted to use when their scenes were interspersed with him fingering the bottle of pills like a true crack addict for the entire episode spoke volumes. Siobhan is right.

Steve has been telling her for months she isn't ready to return to work but she would rather weep in hallways, mess up patients charts and have public breakdowns because her box o' pain is so overwhelming than do the right thing and seek professional help.

Helena said it best... "The girl wears desperation like she wears perfume". Best line of the day.

And they now have Monica telling her don't let her selfishness ruin her other children's lives which is surprising because multiple characters are now calling her on her crap.

And I thought it was my tv but Nicholas is bright orange. TC seriously need to stay away from those tanning booths.

Helena! "Liz where's desperation like most women where perfume"

Olivia loves Kate and at the end of the day she will always have her back? That seemed so random I miss their fighting.

I wish Liz could file a restraining order against Siobhan bc this is borderline harassment

and like I said, god help us if they ever became friends

Yep thats my big issue with all of this. Siobhan has no right to judge and condemn Liz for sh-t that happened when she wasnt around. She's talking out of her ass

Im convinced she's gonna get redeemed via brain tumor or damage. She had another headache today and I think thats going to excuse her nasty attitude as of late

    • The whole town gushing over John Black as if he was a saint is eye rolling.  I guess death really colors people's memories over his many flaws, but I guess that is normal and human nature. I'm still confused as to why Leo hasn't been written out.  The actor stank up two soaps with his sub par acting, what does he have on TPTB's to remain on these soaps.   What's the point of Cat?  I hope the new head-writers figure out her purpose and develop her character. And I much prefer scenes not focusing on John's death because life does go on for the world when someone passes.
    • Wasn't there a break in Zaslow's first run? I thought Roger was off-screen for a while, and when Zas came back, Roger was hiding at the boarding house and Nola figured out there was something hinkey about him. I'm pretty sure Simon chose to leave the first time and was replaced by RVV. I don't want to assume Jordan's issues played a role in his first departure, but Maeve said in an interview that at some point, it became very hard for her to work with him and she asked to work with him less. That seems to fit 1986, where suddenly Vanessa is essentially Ross' law clerk and not at every Lewis family moment.
    • He needs to divorce her arse with her constant cheating.   She's no better than Doug... she's F*cking pathetic.
    • I didn't know of any interruptions for Maeve Kinkead after her 1997 return. Her runs would then be 1981-1987, 1989-1996, 1997-2000, short arcs until the end. I knew Maureen Garrett second run was interrupted from a 2009 interview but I couldn't recall the exact year. Her runs would then be 1976-1980, 1988-2000, short arcs until the end.
    • As I said in May, I have no problem with Martin and Bradley being married. You can still do all the fun introloper storylines with them as you do everyone else. Both men of a certain age, and it is very believable for them to have either a first love or have been previously married. And, you can do it without either of them cheating!

I said something similar during the premiere week. Bill was the perfect age to play Martin as Vernon and Anita's child. I would've much preferred this version, but oh well.
    • I don't know how you want to count Maeve. She "retired" in '00, but would come back for appearances. I don't know however if she made an appearance in '01 or '03. In '02 I believe she came back for Josh and Reva's wedding. I assume she came back when Gina Tognoni took over the role of Dinah. And I know she was back for Ross' memorial service. Maureen Garrett was around until at least '00. I don't think Holly was in town when Ben returned though. I just got pissed off about Jerry all over again.
    • So, pretty sure Zaslow, Garrett, Kinkead, and Newman all chose to leave the first time. (If that's wrong, please correct me). Bernau - not sure why he left the first time. Was it voluntary? Or did they decide to write him out? They were writing so many out during that time period. It always seemed odd to me that they introduced Alex, FINALLY giving him someone he could talk to, and then he was written out. Or maybe that's why they made Alex his sister, so she could take his place as the head of the Spaulding family? Would love more intel on that if anyone knows. Simon - was he replaced by RVV? Or did he voluntarily leave the first time? It seems to me like one of those times TPTB decided to sex up or glamorize a character (and it clearly flopped). If he was fired, interesting he came back. Again, would love if someone could spill the tea. Clarke - I've always assumed he left because of his personal issues, but not sure if that was the case the first time.
    • So Doug just leaves Vanessa there with Joey? He's a f*cking loser. Vanessa needs to divorce his arse
