We are finally trying to continue with 2003... as much as we hate it. I just know better is to come, so I push through.

Macy just learned that Thorne fathered Darla's baby. The past few episodes have been so melodramatic...

And yes, thank God I had the Diva Tv episodes, because the 2 episodes of the reveal are not on youtube. They sure like to skip culminations.

I miss me some of my Amber! She was so great on B&B/Y&R

But I still can’t believe what they did to her character on B&B back before she left the show and joined Y&R later.

Amber locks Bridget Forrester and Ridge Forrester in a mineshaft where they kiss. This was the most frustrating, annoying, disgusting and character destroying bs ever. But it did gave Clarke and Amber some hilarious scenes lol

Recent talk in the Y&R Old Articles thread about Brenda Epperson run as Ashley has me thinking of a similar situation at B&B in that same era. Hunter Tylo pretty much replaced Joanna Johnson so I wonder if Ronn Moss had any issues working with HT around 1990 and 1991. Bill Bell saw that RM and HT connected on-screen so original Ridge/Taylor worked. AFAIK there was nothing in the soap press in the early 1990s re RM/HT working relationship.

Is anyone having old soap magazines from the time of B&B doing the Lake Como remote?

There are zero cast credits for these episodes and some of the Italian faces looked familiar from other roles but I could not pinpoint them. Airdates: last week of October 1997

Same applies to Lauren and Sally's hialrious flight to Italy with various fun sidekick characters on the plane. NO cast credits. SOD or SOU might have had some of these guests as part of their comings&goings sections

If someone wants to check out those episodes: they start at #2657...

I’m not sure if it’s allowed to sell here but I am selling these magazines and book. Send me private message if you’re interested! Otherwise I’ll take them to local flea market. We are at the point in our life with my partner that we move from Finland to Spain to start a new business there so as hard as this is I will not take any extra baggage with me. If you’re interested in these rare items feel free to message me! Thanks 🩷

I wonder what all your opinions are on the 1997 storyline of Ridge being accused of shooting Grant?

I just got to the point where Ridge has confessed to it in order to protect Rick. I’ve actually found it a very entertaining storyline, but I knew coming into it that Rick was responsible, since at least the basic details of the show’s history have been spoiled to be me beforehand. But those of you who saw it when it originally aired, how well did the twist work for you? Who did you believe was responsible for the shooting before it was revealed as Rick? Were the mystery elements of it well constructed when you went into it blind?

A few other observations:

  • The concurrent Sheila/James/Maggie storyline is more mixed in quality. 1996 has perhaps been my favorite year in terms of utilizing Sheila, but once the pregnancy happened in late 96, the trio have isolated themselves into a kind of show-within-a-show where they rarely interact with characters beyond their bubble, having the same repetitious conversations over and over again. Now there’s been a premature birth of Sheila’s baby, and one wonders if the writers themselves grew bored with the repetitiveness and wanted to get it all over with, and whether Curtis was meant to be a more long-term character that didn’t work out.
  • The Thorne/Macy breakup in early 1997 was quite contrived and artificial. I do find Claudia to be a rather interesting character, but the show has utilized her rather poorly past her initial storyline, and it’s very strange she was used to break up Thorne/Macy without an actual romance with Thorne in the horizon (which I would have found quite welcome). Ridge/Taylor/Thorne has been pretty interesting so far, though.
  • Eric/Stephanie have a confusing, badly defined relationship status throughout 1996. In late 95, they seemed to be reuniting, ending up in bed and everything. Eric’s house (where he lived with Sheila) was last seen in January or February of 1996, so he presumably lived with Stephanie now, which (I think?) the dialogue even confirmed once the pair got custody of Brooke’s kids. But we were never told if they were now a couple or if the reunion fizzled out or something. Now that the Stephanie/Eric/Lauren triangle has started up and Eric has proposed to the former, the show acts as though the 95 reunion was never a thing, and Eric again lives someplace else (in the very last episode I saw, Lauren is pensive about letting drunk Eric ”drive home” from Stephanie’s guest house). Why did the writers drop ball so badly here? Why this confusing series of non-explanations and retcons?

While all that sounds like a lot of complainining, I think 1996 and 1997 have overall been a large improvement over 1994 and some of 1995. I’d rate ’96 as 7/10 or 7,5/10 and ’97 (what I’ve seen so far) as maybe just a tad lower. The writing is not as good as 87-93, nor is there yet that delicious camp quality I remember from the 99-02 episodes, but the good stuff has outweighed the bad for me.

Can someone (with good bandwidth) grab these for the vault please? Each tile contains the full year of episodes. These are not screen-recordings and far superior quality to what is currently in the vault. Those titled “deleted scenes” are in fact the bonus scenes seen on international distribution (and were previously appearing on the CBS YouTube channel and CBS-dot-com).

All 2025 eps to date (in full HD, no broadcast logo):  https://archive.org/details/@thebandthebarchives?sort=-addeddate

@ChickenNuggetz92 we need a cleanup of the vault (pretty please). All folders are duplicated, likely some sort of tech error perhaps. Thanks.

Sheila has been played out since 1998. She is Bradley's "break glass in case of emergency" character.

    • Not to hijack the thread, but was that character Justine? I just found this interview online with Logan and see what you're talking about - wow!   http://www.anotherworldhomepage.com/chat85.html

    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
    • It's a wild story for sure, especially the final conclusion (and fireworks offcamera, like Victoria Wyndham tearing into Michael Logan).
