I found the show to be difficult to watch most of 1993.

Brooke taking over Forrester was Bill Bell's last hurrah before he passed the reins to Bradley. The lull starts after the Catalina crossover and goes until Ridge/Brooke beach wedding.

Joanna Johnson announced her departure in December 1989 and it was to be at the end of her initial contract in March 1990, but it ended up being four months later in July 1990. I think some soap names

I loved reading your analysis of the episodes! I’m on episode 113 at the moment.

In general, Jim Storm's Bill was severely mistreated as a character. He is basically non-existent for large chunks of time - which is a major blunder.

Episodes S4 E131 – 169

  • Ronn Moss with facial hair definitely makes me see him... differently and really has him resembling John McCook, especially in recent years. Shame he did not feel it in later years.

  • Clarke is lost; William J. Bell really tied him in tightly to Kristen, and once she left, it felt like he was lost. But both Margo and Stephanie were right there for the taking, and it never happened.

  • Not surprised by everyone's disdain for Thorne's engagement to Macy. Sucks, because it just showed how much of a "red-headed stepchild" that Thorne was in that family in comparison to star child Ridge. Moving too fast? He spent less time with Caroline before they got married. 🤣 Should just be honest; it is the fact she is connected to Spectra.

  • I like the idea of Storm and Taylor, and it is a shame that it is a pairing they did not really develop more into, especially in later years. It could have been considerably viable. Brian Patrick Clarke and Hunter Tylo do spark onscreen, but I cannot help but feel like Ethan Wayne's chemistry with Tylo would have been more electric, but Bell loved pairing a blond(e) with a brunette. 😉

  • No matter how much they try and dress Felicia like a Forrester, she is still the free-spirited child of the group, and I do love that about her. Again, I am more familiar with Lesli Kay's portrayal, but Collen Dion is solid and was perfectly cast. Wonder if she, at some point, would be open to reprising the role again if it were asked of her. Would be interesting to see.

  • Bill and Margo are really just... non-entities it feels like, which is a shame, because they could really have been a frontrunning power couple.

  • Jake is a poor man's substitute for Rocco where Donna is concerned. It feels like Bell was trying to recreate Laken and Ted on Bold and it does not work.

  • We have got temp. Taylor with Sherilyn Wolter, and honestly, she is not half bad. Better than Elena Nikolas on Santa Barbara; perhaps returning her in a different role would have been cool. Honestly, if she dyed her hair blonde, I could have seen her as nü Caroline. She does slightly resemble Joanna Johnson.

  • If I have to endure years of Macy and Thorne singing to each other... I may cry bloody tears from the pain. I will say it is sweet of Ridge and Eric to show up for Thorne, despite their initial objections.

  • Hearing Ridge in modern times talk about Eric leaving Forrester, and yet in 1990, he talks about it needing to be Eric's vision where Felicia is concerned.

  • The Spectra fashion show is ten times more luxurious and classic than anything this soap produces now. Even the tacky, fake wigs look better than what is done today.

  • Katherine Kelly Lang's maternity leave was handled so well that it often felt like Brooke was barely absent from the canvas. If only maternity leaves could be handled like that in modern soaps.

  • Nearly whole episodes dedicated to fashion shows? Imagine that today... that would be incredible!

  • The supreme fact of Stephanie begged Brooke to take Ridge so she could keep Eric. That is hilarious.🤣 And it's the way it should be? That is hilarious to me.

  • Ah! The introduction of the penthouse! What a lush and lavish set. Kind of wish it were still around somehow!

Episodes S4 E170 – 205

  • This Jake storyline is very interesting, especially for 1990. And it also makes me sad at how flippant and tasteless Bradley Bell has been with them in recent years. He was part of the writing team by this point, so he should know how it should be done. Very Bold story. Very. And I am glad that Todd McKee was able to play this material after being wasted at Santa Barbara during his time there as Ted Capwell. Again, between his time as Ted and his beginning as Jake, he looked so much more "grown up", which I adore. And the McKee home does remind me of the Perkins' home, which is also very interesting.

  • Glad we are back in the courtroom. Feels like the last time we were genuinely in a court proceeding was Caroline's rape case, and this really drives home the Sally vs Stephanie rivalry. And good on Thorne for being in lawyer mode.

  • Made it to Marla Adams' debut as Beth! Again, good idea on paper for a recast, but... I do not buy her in the role. At all. Her casting, in my eyes, completely undermined why I believe Judith Baldwin was recast with Nancy Burnett. She feels like an equal to Stephanie, and it always kind of felt like they wanted Beth to be the opposite of what Stephanie was, and therefore, both Baldwin and Adams do not fit that role.

  • Ridge asking Brooke to marry him? C'mon now... my goodness, this is insufferable. Oh, it was a dream. Wow. Signs of things to come, uh-oh.

Not going to lie, this selection of episodes did not do much for me until the come-up to the wedding.

Marla Adams run as Beth was only a few episodes. Perhaps Nancy Burnett was not available.

I really enjoyed your recap :) @Liberty City ! Thanks a lot! At that time i liked Macy and Thorne together, and tought that them singing was a good idea. I even have the Duet CD's at home. Jake's story was a good one. And Felicia is my favourite Forrester child! And the wedding yes the wedding :) the daydream was good!
