Pairings that made you HATE one of your favorites

For me, on OLTL, Jessica was made rancid by her pairing with Antonio... It was so forced and creepy. It happened at a time when Brian Frons had been rumored to "market" couplings on the shows - having interns pose as viewers on various sites & organize internet fan-bases, and this certainly stank of that... Jessica's initial interactions with Antionio arrived with a suddenly materialized fan-base called "Java" (don't ask me what that means...) I encountered many a bizarre "Java" fan on message boards. Some people joked they were a Mitch Laurence cult: They attempted to "recruit" more followers and offered up "Java songs" and "Java poems" and... wait for it... "Java x-rated fan fiction."

Yes, that was you about to throw up in your mouth, wasn't it?

Of course, soon after came more insta-fan-bases like "Jolie" and "Rylee" ... I think I saw a person proclaiming herself a "Jolie" supporter within 24 hours of their first scene together. Anyway, I digress....

For me, these two had no chemistry, and I was grossed out that Antonio was suddenly chasing the skirt of his kid brother's one-time adolescent sweetheart. I guess it was appropriate that they first got it on at some disgusting rock quarry (though it was ironic that at the same time, Marcy & Al were the ones contracting a staph infection). And Antonio became so annoying, that I was betting HE caused Tess! ... Other than the fanatics who were one-note about this pairing (and held no other interest in OLTL), it was apparent that nobody else seemed to like them... If anything, IndiJessTonio - their alternate title - seemed to inspire repulsion. Thankfully they're a very distant memory now.

The Felicia and John pairing on AW made me hate John Hudson. I would've hated Felicia if Linda Dano wasn't so damn talented and likable. I never bought that either of those characters would betray Sharlene like that. The only thing good that came out of that storyline was a few intense scenes between Felicia and Sharlene ... they were beautifully acted, even if they were completely out of character.

everyone had sex at the quarry!

Speaking of which, the Jen/Joey pairing made me hate Joey. I wasnt to keen on the recast and making him a reverand, but having him marry that ho definetly ruined him in my eyes. I couldnt stand how sanctimonious and stupid he got, fighting for and defending her. Joey became a damn fool and it wasnt fun to watch

Gosh Antonio and Jessica seem like so long ago now. I don't remember liking them together but I think the thing that really killed me was the Santi storyline. That was a mess if I ever saw one. It was just ridiculously bad for both Vega boys. It was a huge misstep in OLTL's writing history. That being said I liked Jessica with Nash and Antonio with Talia. But it was obvious that Antonio's story started waning after Keri left who was totally assassinated as a character for Antonio in the first place. Oh the irony.

I actually liked most of Jen's relationships. I liked her with Christian, Al and Joey. I think her pairing with Riley was boring though and I also thought it was a terrible way to kill the character off. It still saddens me that the Rappaports are gone from OLTL, they were a very interesting family.

Nick and Phyllis on Y&R. Nick was my fav character for years, but he lost alot of his appeal for me when he starting screwing Giggly Heffa. That pairing ultimately led to me giving up Y&R for good in 2009.
