AMC - The Homegoing Celebration

IMO this is the kind of event that should end with a nice big campfire in a park or down by the Pennsylvania Ocean

A Ryan's Hope homegoing would be so easy... picnic in Riverside Park.

Here's a tentative list of colleges/universities for my proposed "AMC College Tour":

* Bryn Mawr College (Bryn Mawr, PA)

* Harvard University (Cambridge, MA)

* Northwestern University (Evanston, IL)

* University of California, Berkeley (Berkeley, CA)

* University of California, Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA)

* University of Florida (Gainesville, FL)

* University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI)

* University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Chapel Hill, NC)

* University of Oklahoma (Norman, OK)

(Again, it's tentative. Feel free to add or subtract from it as you feel necessary.)

Actually, swap Harvard for MEK's alma mater:

* Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT).

I love the idea of a cruise, but I don't know...some of those fan cruises look like they're the perfect opportunity for crazies to get crazy. There's a certain sense of safety in being on dry land.

How would the venue be decorated? "The cuhluhs" should be burgundy and gold.

An evening cruise could be nice and the mere mention of that Khan has me picturing marceline in one of those beaded flapper hats like Erica and Carl coked out of his mind like Kim Delaney.

And Eric, drunk, reciting entire passages from that book you know, just like here on SON.

A Ryan's Hope homegoing would be so easy... picnic in Riverside Park.

I think it should just be a sort of panel discussion with the cast, Agnes, Lorraine, and we might as well invite JHC so we can throw tomatoes at her. :lol:

Now, where in my original post did I suggest doing an actual cruise? I said do something similar to GL's cruise, but instead of an actual cruise, do a college tour instead. LOL!!!

There was one GL cruise, but the rest were events in hotels or casinos. Each one of them increased in size (length) throughout the tour. That way people who couldn't go on a cruise, but wanted to meet/see actors had the opportunity.

So many good ideas.

I'm not feeling the "college tour" unless we get to hear from or about schools where AMC has a real presence. Or a school with a strong TV/Pop Culture/Media program. As for a cruise, I'm concerned about expense and access.

My main concern is saying goodbye to this show, actors, characters, stories in a way that expresses what they've meant to so much of us over the years and offering people from a wide variety of backgrounds to participate. Even if's it's by webcam.

I'm not trying to shoot any ideas down out the box, I just want to make sure we're all on the same page of what this even should be.

As long as whatever we do can be "international" too. And by that I mean, turning on a webcam a the very least. I'll be in Paris or England for the finale episode, so I won't be able to "be" with other fans. :(

Don't worry about that. I'd like to do a hookup were we all have our "Farewell Pine Valley" parties on the same day so that people in various locations can share in the celebration. Even if its ten people in a dive bar in Indianapolis or a couple of foreign exchange students in Venezuela.

I hope/wonder if Paley will have something/anything...

Kylie how are you even going to be able to see AMC from overseas...as I thought the official ways are blocked for people outside the US...

^I used to have to wait til one of the sites where they clip and upload or You Tube put them up. I didn't usually get to see the show until about 12-1AM GMT. That coupled with the fact that I was working on an MA, keeping up with more than just AMC got a to be to much love. Getting to see AMC became a labor of love. LOL
