Before Gillian Spenser, there was actually another Vicki - sort of.

There was an actress (whose name I cannot now recall) who was cast as Victoria.   She was replaced before the show's premiere in July 1968, but there were some commercials promoting the show that had featured this actress and Lee Patterson.

The actresses who played Cathy Craig were:

Catherine Burns (196901970)

Amy Levitt (1970-1971)

Jane Alice Brandon (1971-1972)

Dorrie Kavanaugh (1972-1976)

Jennifer Harmon (1976-1978)

Joanne Dorian (Viki #2) was married, at the time, to actor/writer Michael Zaslow.   He later appeared on the show as David Renaldi.    Ms. Dorian also returned to show as a voice actress on occasion.   (Her voice would be heard on the radio or in airports, etc.)

Joanne Dorian was replaced by the show.    Erika Slezak was in the office of the agent who was representing both actresses and was present when the show informed the agent that Ms. Dorian was to be replaced.    Ms. Slezak auditioned for a role on All My Children (Mary Kinnecott Martin, R. N.) and then was offed the role of Victoria.

In her book, One Life, Ellen Holly misidentifies this actress as Trish Van Devere. As Slick clarified, her name is Sharon Laughlin.

Joanne Dorian and Michael Zaslow are Christian Slater’s godparents, by way of their friendship with OLTL casting director Mary Jo Slater.

Trish Van Devere? LOL imagine that George C. Scott's widow could have been Vicki? Kinda fun to think I saw a Columbo episode in which she was the murderess the other day, but Ellen Holly got quite a confusion right? But I think it isn't her fault she entered the show only months after it began, by the way I have always been fascinated by her character Carla I wish I could something from the years she was more prominent

I Cannot Imagine OLTL without Erika Slezak as Viki/Niki etc but I wonder why they replaced Sharon Laughlin with Gillian Spencer before production on the soap began in 1968?

Do we know when exactly Joe 'died' in 1970, and when in '72 he returned? I was surprised to learn the turnaround on Viki and Joe and that they married as quickly as December of '69, a little over a year after the show had been on air (and I think Gillian Spencer quit in fall '70).
