I've quickly scanned the discussion but still have questions...  Have any Canadians tried this?  Is this an ap one can get on their TV or only watch online (I still prefer streaming to my TV if this makes any sense?)  And... yes, it seems kinda expensive if they hope to get a lot of subscribers--you buy credits, but does that mean one episode is like $4.00 Canadian??  And is this a rental cost--if so how long do we have them for?

Hello @EricMontreal22. Based on my understanding, if nothing has changed, the episodes are only available for the month they are released. Each month, a new batch of 20 episodes replaces the previous one. This is a major issue for me. Having just 30 days to watch 20 episodes is quite restrictive. Some days, due to work and other commitments, I won't have time to watch. Initially, it may be manageable, but eventually, I would miss the deadline. Given the high cost compared to current streaming services, and the fact that we don't own the episodes, can't keep them, and only have 30 days from the upload date to view them, I think this is not a viable long-term strategy .There is a 28-day pass for 30 euros, but that means 20 episodes of AMC (that you can't keep for more than 30 days) cost at least 30 euros. Of course, people can spend their money as they wish, but for now, this project is not for me. If the pricing resembled a typical streaming service, around 5-10 euros... and if I could stream the episodes for a few months before they disappear, I would have signed up immediately. Good luck with your viewing, if you choose to try it. The quality is excellent for old soap episodes. A far better option than the VHS-TV rips we have.

No the episodes will stay online ;)

Really?! OMG. That's great to hear! I thought they were going to be online for only 1 month at a time. Hearing these news... I may join in the viewing too. Do we know for how long they will stay online? I may join in later in couple of months... when more than 20 are available. I'll just have to swallow the 30 euro pass.

@rsclassicfanforever I wanted to ask one more question... about the 28 day pass. Is it 28 days free to watch whatever you want on their platform? Meaning that in 3-4 months... it would cost 30 euro to watch 60-80 episodes if you had the time... or does that 30 euro pass mean only max 20 episodes a month or something like that. Is the pass restricted to the amount of episodes. That could be the deal-breaker for me. But if it means I'm free to watch whatever amount of episodes for 30 euro... I'll bite in the future months.

I could swear the original Llanfair foyer (or the one since the '70s til '91 anyway) is actually the Old House foyer from DS as well, but don't quote me...

You're not alone in your thinking, lol.  The two sets are just so similar.

Yes, this has pushed me closer to considering it as well.  *thinks*  On one level I want to support them just to show there's an interest.  But it's not exactly like I have much money right now (to put it mildly...)

A friend who does everything with a VPN told me that currently the BBC seems to have found away to get past VPNs (I have no idea how) and she can't access their stuff anymore.  I wonder if it's something similar (maybe they can just detect it is a VPN?)  How frustrating.

I do wonder about how they're advertising this.  It's great to alert the soap press and to have former stars talk about it, but AMC (like most of the ABC soaps--well except for Loving in Italy and South Africa!) has never been a huge soap internationally when it's been tried out, to the best of my knowledge--*except* here in Canada where we both were usually able to watch it because most people got the American affiliates and also because CBC carried it from the 70s on with CTV (I think?) picking it up later.  And yet I don't see them making a push to attract Canadian fans.  In fact, I was weary of the initial wording of the announcement and on the site--so often as a Canadian I'm used to seeing "outside of the US" or "not available in the US" as meaning "Not available in North America" but being written by someone too lazy to remember we're here too ;)

@slick jones Not sure if this has anything you need or not, but it was a VintageNoSpintage upload that was blocked in the US but is now unblocked. There are AMC credit crawls at 20 minutes and an hour and 2 minutes and an hour and 18 minutes.

I didn't realize they started Cliff/Nina this early, or this soon after Jesse's death.

I have never watched Dixie #1 (Kari Gibson). She's not as "country" as I had expected - I was expecting someone from Dogpatch. That blonde is very garish though.

Also wasn't expecting to see Cecily and a Speedo-clad Sean making out in the pool. Sometimes I forget how sexual soaps were then compared to now.

I see John O'Hurley (ex. Mr. Eva La Rue) playing a different role. He also appeared in 2011 as Kit Sterling, the film producer who was going to make a movie about Erica.

Good spot. I forgot he was on AMC near the end.

Whoa!  Thanks for posting.  I've also never seen Kari as Dixie. She had a pretty southern twang, but you're right about that hair, how awful LOL. So what's the story with Kari and why did they recast with Cady? I never heard that story nor knew how long Kari was in the role.

This is just before I can remember watching as a child (1990), and I always knew Tom Paris from ST: Voyager was Charlie, but didn't realize it was just before I started watching!  I didn't realize he was in a triangle with Maurice Benard either! I only remember Nico/Cecily, so seeing them with other love interests is interesting.

She has an accent, it's just not as all-consuming as I'd expected. She, Lonnie Quinn, and Cady don't really have an Appalachian accent (is that the part of West Virginia Palmer was from - I can't remember), but that's probably too much work.

I think Kari was just there through part of 1988. I wonder if they recast because she doesn't fit as the ingenue they molded Dixie into - she's made up like a discount Hee Haw Honey, and she reminds me of Sally Kirkland.

I wonder when they decided to get rid of Lonnie Quinn. He's a bit ambitious but clearly not what they made Will under JPS. He seems more like the hot pieces of farm ass Marland collected at ATWT. (he would pop up on ATWT, but long after he'd retired from acting and moved into being a weatherman).

That sad Skye/Tom bedroom scene led me to realize Richard Shoberg still had such a great body by this time. So many men on soaps, and in life, overdo the muscles and just look cartoonish - he has the perfect build.

I can't remember - did viewers ever see Juanita Ramsey? Wasn't expecting to see her grandson. I guess that doesn't go anywhere.

What did Erica fans think of this whole hostage story with Travis? I know some think it ruined his character.
