Hayley was so great, and I loved the Hayley/Brian relationship and watching him scale the house to save Haley when Janet was holding her captive.

So true, the Dimitri/Wildwind stuff was so good and such a great new storyline.

95 was such a great time too - and I loved Liza's return, with WRCW and all that stuff. If you ever have time, you should go back and watch 1994 with the tornado and the beginning of Noah/Julia. :)

Oh I have. Noah was one of my favorite characters.

Oh good, love to hear it!  :)  Noah/Julia were so great.

Honestly the Santos family was such a great addition to the show and every sibling had an iconic supercouple attached to the show - Maria/Edmund, Mateo/Hayley, Julia/Noah and then Anita/Bobby (even though I preferred Bobby/Kelsey but what a great trio).  I need to go look up what EP and writer combo came up with the Santos family.

You are so correct! Now, when you lay it out like this, it makes me want to rewatch the Santos introduction. You can tell the show was very invested in them. I couldn't say any of them were my favorite couples; maybe Julia and Noah would be the closest. But I knew they were uber popular. Megan for sure had to be responsible for that...

Yep, just checked and it was McTavish. She was HW from 1992-1995, so that's gotta be correct as I think the Santos family came around in 1993. You know, as much crap as McTavish gets by fans (and some rightly so), her AMC from 92-95 was some of my favorite stuff so I have to give her credit there.

McTavish did create the family, first through Maria. When Maria became more popular with viewers than originally expected, her parents arrived, as did Julia (I don't know who was first). I think one of the parents' main purposes was to object to Maria marrying Edmund as well as setting up the whole story of Maria aborting her fetus in the bathtub. Mateo and Anita made brief appearances in 1994 and 1995 before being properly recast. If Mark Consuelos started in February 1995 then I wonder if McTavish did have larger plans for him that Behr and Lorraine Broderick expanded on. Broderick and Behr is when Anita and Mateo got more story and the family was a full unit.

I didn't realize Priscilla Garita and Jordana Brewster played Anita before Darlene Dahl. Garita would have been a better choice than Dahl. (I assume Brewster left for ATWT

I see that a Tito Ortiz played Mateo in 1994. I wonder if that is the MMA fighter.

Was going through some old ads and saw this. Nancy Frangione. I think she was on AMC around this time.

I got completely hooked when All My Children first started airing in Israel back in 1994. I still remember the hurricane, Janet Green’s clashes with Laurel and with her mother, Wilma Marlowe, and poor Mona’s heartbreaking death - and how it all affected Erica. The show was absolutely brilliant back then!

Ahh thanks for the rundown, that's interesting. I remember Maria being the first, but I totally don't remember a different actor playing Mateo in the beginning, wow. Makes me want to go back and rewatch.

Love to hear it and I agree! :)

Around 20 minutes Dorothy Lyman talks a bit about her time on AMC, including that she regularly rewrote her lines, although she just changed the dialogue, not the emphasis of the scenes. She also let her co-stars know from the first rehearsal of the day.

She gets some bits wrong (Carol Burnett and Vicki Lawrence couldn't have seen her playing Opal while taping the Carol Burnett Show...), but still, it's interesting hearing her talk a little about Opal and how AMC led her to Mama's Family.

Thank you for posting. I think about her performance as Opal a lot! I will certainly give it a watch today.

@alwaysAMC I wish the show had found a way to keep utilizing the WRCW set until the end. The last thing I remember is that Hayley was working there. I could be wrong.

I wish they had too!  My memory is fuzzy, I can't quite remember much after Laurel was shot and killed on live TV. I can't remember if Hayley took over or if they took Tad/Liza out of WRCW and it just went away.  Or if Erica's talk show sort of stole the thunder and it got phased out.  I'll have to go back and look.

Haha I saw this! I love to see it. She usually promotes his stuff on instagram, so I'm happy that they're still close to this day.

I've always had a soft spot for Larry Poindexter so it's nice to see him too.

IIRC, Hayley took over the show for a while. I think there was one called WAVE. There was some kind of talk or reality hybrid used during Gillian's murder. I can't remember if that was tied to WRCW.

Oh you're right!  Gosh, I forgot about Wave. That was tied to WRCW and they even threw a surprise bridal shower for Hayley on air one episode. That's what ultimately took Hayley/Mateo out of Pine Valley when they left. The show went syndicate and they moved to LA.

You have such a great memory. I don't know how you remember all these details across all the soaps you watched over the decades. I'm impressed :)

My memory is often poor and just pops up at random, so I appreciate the kindness. I didn't realize Hayley's exit from the show was via a talk show but that's a cute nod to her Regis & Kelly success.
