Pretty much. Before Agnes Nixon sold ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE to the network, her company, Creative Horizons, Inc., was virtually responsible for both shows' operating costs, with ABC providing the licensing fees (I think). However, the longer they stayed on-air, the more cost-prohibitive they became for her and for the company. It's the same reason why Claire Labine and Paul Avila Mayer sold RYAN'S HOPE to ABC as well in 1979.

Why was it getting more expensive to produce? Wasn't she basically the only writer for the show (AMC) and the EP for AMC?

Just watched the "KEEP HIM ALIVE, I NEED HIS HEART!" episode on SOAPnet. UGH! rolleyes.gif I didn't think much of it the first time I watched. Now I'm beyond disgusted. Maybe it's because I'm a little older. Seriously what a horrible line by Zach. I'll never forgive Chuck Pratt for what he turned Josh into: A lying, trifling family thief. WTF??

One thing I never realized. Josh told Erica he loved her (and Kendall too) while he was dying at the casino. It was very faint so I must've not heard it the first time. I always thought Josh didn't like Erica in the end. Susan Lucci was very underrated in this story IMO.

Oh and one other thing. The David/Krystal/Magic pill milk story. I'm mad all over again about the soap press & others ridiculing Bobbie Eakes' 2010 Emmy nomination (citing she had nothing good the previous year). Well, she had a depression story & turned in AMAZING work throughout the whole winter!

Agnes Nixon was NOT the only writer for All My Children. It was said that she sold the two soap operas (All My Children and One Life to Live) to ABC because One Life to Live needed some newer sets and they could not afford these.

That picture of Richard Shoberg with Karen Morris Gowdy could have been taken on a promotional trip for ABC. I know that Ms. Gowdy traveled around the country with Richard van Vleet of All My Children and Frances Fisher of The Edge of Night. They came to New Orleans. Also, Richard Shoberg came to Mississippi for an mall interview.

Wow, she has the beauty of a She-Ra cast member.

You have such a way with words. wub.png

I thought Kate Collins looked great when she was with Alex Hunter and during the storyline with Jeremy. Once she chopped off her hair and put on weight, she lost that great bitchy ice princess look she had going, and it really was a shame.

ITA, and thanks. :P But yeah, she has that bone structure I think I was subconsciously trained to admire watching Filmation cartoons as a kid.

I was watching an early '90s clip from this thread the other day and I was really taken by how beautiful Julia Barr looked. She is one of the few AMC cast members I've met in person. She was so tiny I could hardly imagine how small Susan was in comparison.

Julia Barr was and is a stunningly beautiful woman! I thought she looked gorgeous for most of the early/mid 90s!

While perusing the web, I found this via Amazon:
