She considered Ellen a best friend, and Jenny a protege of sorts. Olga Svensen was always a friend / ally. She got along well enough with Nina and Daisy, mostly due to her close rapport with Palmer. And of course there's Myrtle, and Ruth as time went on...

You're right! I almost forgot about that.. It was very brief, toward the end of Behr's time as EP.

I felt Adam accepted the real Erica more than any other husband- even the nasty, ruthless side- provided he was in control of things. Unlike  other husbands, he would have been happy to let her manipulate others, help her with petty schemes, etc. The problem was she never loved him and he was insane in certain ways.

Jack drove me nuts. He was extremely preachy and arrogant. It drove me crazy in later years how he'd hold Erica to one standard, then ignore the truly heinous things down by Greenlee ((I hated them making her his daughter. HATED it)). I know they were accidents, but almost killing one of Erica's grandkids and later almost killing Erica herself? Even if she didn't mean to, those things happened because she was trying to kidnap the child and trying to frame Erica for a crime. I kinda blame AMC's horrible, horrible writing in later years. Even the ending- him walking out cause Erica wants to make a film instead of marry him for the 500th time- was dumb. He couldn't just go with her to Hollywood and wait?

I liked Erica's friendship with Opal, but sometimes felt it was nearly one sided. Palmer commented on it in an early 90's episode when Opal was pregnant. Incidentally, I think Palmer might have been Erica's only true male friend. There's a really nice scene at the beginning of this 1987 episode with them. I like it cause Erica was actually shown trying to be a good friend to him

Watching old episodes, I noticed something that leaves me confused. Brooke was Phoebe's niece and, if I recall, had a trust fund that Phoebe controlled when Brooke first arrived. Where did that trust fund go? If Phoebe was old money, surely Brooke should have been rich herself? I know she wasn't portrayed as poor, but I've seen episodes basically implying her character's not all that rich. I wonder if she had rejected her family's wealth?

I really liked Brooke, but I felt the writers could have given her some type of personality flaw instead of trying to make her so sensible damn near all the time.

It's interesting that you mention that because I trying to recall if Erica ever mentioned being close to Opal's daughter Jenny?  Opal is the kind of friend who will dress up to go shopping in Manhattan with you and your kidnapped baby; and that's what Erica needed.

Let's face it, her cat fights with Barbara, Brooke and even Tara were much more fun to watch.

You're not the only one.  I'm sure Opal had enough money to reopen the Glamorama away from the Cortlandt mansion.  Heck, even converting the mansion into a spa would have made more sense.

    • She did have a thing with him in the late '90s, before she inexplicably disappeared with no mention as to why, although I can't remember if they had sex.
    • I don't believe she did. She did sleep with Simon, believing he was a Spaulding.
    • -- If I ever get sick, please don't send me to Garland Memorial. That hospital is a YIKES. -- Soooo much activity around the main nurses' desk. Do they move dead people on a gurney past that desk, too? -- 8 months for Bill to recover from a "small stroke"? Uh....I don't think so. Is anyone researching this stuff? The hospital stuff is not coming off as realistic. -- It's good that Derek and Ashley are being integrated into other stories, but it's a real stretch to say Leslie was "stalking" Ashley. It makes Derek seem dumber than we already think he is. -- Ashley spends a lot of time having small talk while she's at work. -- Chelsea is embarrassing. Period. -- Tomas is supposed to pick up the slack for Bill, but he has time to have worthless conversations with Leslie? OK then. -- Kat is destroying the case against Leslie, but that's clearly the way to keep Leslie on the canvas.
    • 6-3   I almost let my system just delete the episode just like with B&B. I am now questioning if I should have. lol.   I just can't believe that Cole sat there and started to get sick and then only Victoria off and ran off and everyone basically went back to what they were doing at Nikki's birthday party. Cole was too much of a vet character for that. And now story back off-screen.   I did chuckle at how much Victor pay Kyle dust. And now Kyle with this deal and a promise to leave town if he hurts Claire. smh. As if Victor isn't going to make that happen.   It was lovely to see Ashley. And actually (misdressed and all) Abby.    And I liked Claire's dress.
    • Oh. That. I pretend that never happened.

I did think of another possibility. Did India ever sleep with Alan? They kind of toyed with pairing them up, but I'm not sure they ever became lovers.
    • While I do love the chaotic energy that is Kat vs Lesile, it is a bit extra. Sheltered, virginal Kat who plays it safe from her man to her wardrobe understands that Leslie is dangerous, but she's out here showing up everywhere and anywhere that Lesile is to be found and actively going to places where she is alone? I mean Kat doesn't even act a little afraid or intimidated by Leslie. Meanwhile, big Ole Derek out here begging for his and Ashley's life to Jacob.  As for Dani, I didn't see it that way. Dani and Bill were together for 30 years and shared a family. I believe there was real love there at one point. Bill is still an ass and Dani is still crazy, but realizing she may lose him and her daughter's may lose their dad definitely struck a chord.
    • Funny I randomly saw Kami’s lengthy post about the 44th anniversary of the Walton’s finale last week pop up in my news feed on Facebook. A few inaccuracies to her post but overall it was pretty insightful and interesting to read.
    • Well, depending on rewrites...Jennifer Richards potentially slept with Brandon and Alan. It does feel like we're forgetting someone, but then again, maybe I'm confusing that with brothers, which would include a lot more.
    • Maybe it’s me, and the fact that RC isn’t at the helm, but since Cwikly and Ford have taken over I’ve noticed the show doing a lot of things differently directing wise, and since the storyline of John’s demise began, the show has been using different scores, and dare I say better ones than this time last year. It’s interesting and I wonder if the any of it is Noel Maxam’s influence before being promoted.
    • I think Nicole is about to figure out what's going on between Andre and Dani.
