Ok, I'm just going to agree to disagree on this one. If it's one thing I've learned as nurse working in the hospital that I work at for as long as I have, even if I hate my superior, roll with the punches because you just never know....... JMO!!

I can't blame Cat Hickland for anything. Like so many she kept her head down and did her job. Erika Slezak's been doing that for decades and we never call her anything but a class act. Same with Susan Lucci. Tony Geary allegedly assaults Richard Culliton and is applauded.

This is going to be a very unpopular thing to say, but I consider what Hoover is doing to be nothing more than a marketing gimmick. If they really cared about saving the soaps, they would have boycotted NBC & CBS after the cancellations of the P&G shows. However, they chose not to because the outcry that those soap cancellations caused was almost nothing in comparasion to what is currently going on with AMC & OLTL. You are deluding yourselves if you think that Hoover is doing this out of the goodness of their hearts; instead, what is happening is that they sense this is a golden opportunity to win the loyalty of all of these many outraged soap fans.

In fact, as somebody who prefers the P&G soaps over the ABC ones, I find it downright insulting that Hoover felt that the P&G soaps didn't deserve to be saved, and that fans of those soaps didn't seem to matter to them. Again, as I previously indicated, Hoover didn't pull its ads back then simply because there was minimal outrage, and consequently little marketing advantage for Hoover to get involved.

Where was Scott Clifton's? Fiona Hutchison's? John Brotherton's? Tim Stickney's? Dan Gauthier's? Heather Tom's? Sam Page's? Marj Dusay's? Daphnee Duplaix's? Terrell Tilford's? Renee Elise Goldsberry's? Lindze Letherman's? Jackie Zeman's?

The list goes on and on. If we damn one we must damn all, but the truth is the real world, and humans, don't work like that. See also political ideology vs. reality.

The majority of them didn't choose to "speak out" though & Catherine did which makes the difference.

Most of them lost their jobs & moved on while some of their fanbases had issues.

Unlike the Catherine's & Tonja's that could've been critical when they actually had something to lose instead of when they didn't.

And the more double standards are allowed (especially based on popularity contests) the less any progress will be made.

I find it all very amusing. If the ratings weren't in the gutter, Hoover wouldn't have pulled this stunt while the soaps were still airing. But the reason these soaps are being cancelled is because the ratings are in the gutter. If advertisers can pull out so cavalierly, aren't they somewhat validating ABC's decision?

Hoover is pulling the stunt because they know the ratings for the replacement shows will probably be as bad, or worse, and it is only ABC that is profiting. It seems like a warning shot to ABC and helps defeat the purpose of their throwing anything they can find up on the screen.

Hoover has bought themselfs million sin free ads and ell sell some vacums to soap fans. As for target and otheres , they're using it as a chance to do free market research.
