Elizabeth Taylor has passed away

Not unexpected, but still a huge loss. One of the last true stars we had left, beautiful and fascinating, a woman who essentially helped to invent modern celebrity culture and played that up to the hilt for many decades. A dear friend to many who were seen as unworthy and unwanted, even when the safe thing to do was to join in the usual shunning. Also one hell of an actress.

And of course she had one of the most delicious and campy star cameos ever on daytime.

It's amazing that 20+ years later, that commercial still holds up for that perfume...

Every woman over 25 owns that perfume, I'm sure of it.

I remember my cousin just had to have that perfume when it came out

It says a lot about her charisma, as the commercial itself is kind of bizarre (hey, a big star is going to give out her jewelry in a backstreet poker game).

I loved her cameo on The Nanny.

Fran: Can I just touch...?

Liz: NO!

This was back when CBS' Monday night sitcoms (I think it was Monday) were waning, and Liz agreed to appear on all four of them if they would plug her products. Very few actors would have that much pull that a network would have them go to each show in an interwoven storyline.

She'll ask Liz to say hello to all their exes.

LOL…. there's only one that would matter.

Most people laughed at this a decade ago, but I remember being very worried about her mental state at the time.

Kind of screwing up another presentation, after the streaking incident at the 1974 Oscar's.

This is effing disgusting:

http://www.gossipcop.com/elizabeth-taylor-funeral-westboro-baptist-church-protest-margie-phelps/

The Westboro Baptist Church plans to protest Elizabeth Taylor’s funeral. Margie Phelps, the WBC’s lawyer and daughter of leader Fred Phelps, announced the group’s intention on Twitter.

Known for their vile message of “God Hates F*gs” and policy of disturbing the bereaved, the “Church” now intends to disrupt Taylor’s ceremony due to her ardent HIV/AIDS activism and “enabling” of gays.

We’re at a loss for words.

Taylor died early today at 79.

Unfortunately, they're now reporting that Zsa Zsa's been rushed to the hospital after having a bad reaction to the news of Liz's passing:

I didnt realize she was on AMC. Anyon know if scenes of that are on YT?

There's a clip on the first page of this thread.

There used to be a clip, maybe there still is, of Carol Burnett in hysterics, as she was completely surprised about Elizabeth doing this.
