OLTL: Judith Light Spotted Apartment Hunting

  • Member

Karen Wolek is shopping for a place:

<span style="font-size:120%;">Lots of Light

Actress Judith Light, now starring in Broadway's "Lombardi," is on the prowl for a posh Upper East Side pad. The actress, best known for her roles on "Who's the Boss?" and "Ugly Betty," was spotted checking out 136 E. 64th St., where she visited a $2.15 million, two-bedroom, 2½-bathroom unit in the 11-story prewar building. Light's broker, Mark Weinstock of Spire Group, declined to comment.

I can't find the listing, but I think this is the estate agent's website. Perhaps I shouldn't have posted it here, but since we had the Eileen Fulton thread... Someone might find it interesting.

<span style="font-size:120%;">About 136 East 64th Street This very handsome, 11-story, beige-brick, apartment building was erected in 1928. It was converted to a cooperative in 1984 and has 64 large apartments.

It has a one-story painted limestone base, a canopied, one-step-up entrance, a doorman, a large lobby, sidewalk landscaping and it permits protruding air-conditioners.

It is similar in size and style to the much finer apartment building directly across the street at 133 East 64th Street, which has finer detailing and very impressive retail spaces. Together, however, both buildings compliment one another well and add considerable elegance to this rather wild and interesting stretch along Lexington Avenue that has restaurants, cosmetics stores, coffee shops and some low-rise buildings that provide interesting vistas of the luxury apartment towers nearby on Third Avenue.

The 64th Street side-street is one of the nicest in this area and there are many clubs, religious institutions and the like in the vicinity. Bloomingdale's is four blocks to the south so there is considerable traffic on Lexington Avenue.

There is cross-town bus service on 67th Street and there are some subway stations along Lexington Avenue to the south.

This isn't directed at you Sylph but I just find it creepy keeping track of entertainers addresses and the like. I know real estate transfers are public record and the same thing goes on in every city, suburb and small town across America but still this just seems, yeah, creepy.

LOL! I can see why you might say so, but I would find it creepy only if someone attempted to do anything more than just read the article, check the listing or something to that effect. You know, like, sending crazy letters, stalking, trespassing and that sort of thing. Without that, it's just mindless fun.

Luxury real estate following might be just another type of voyeurism.

I attend nearby Hunter College. That's a very good neighborhood.

Oh, Hunter. Very nice, Khan. :)

Marceline, you know what? I think the biggest piece of craziness of this sort is a website, or a blog, called Celebrity Addresses Aerial. It popped up several times in the postings of Yo' Mama. It looks ridiculously cheap and asks people for money in order to get the address of their preferred actor, actress, socialite or whatever. I mean – who would pay for that type of stuff?

Someone like Robert John Bardo perhaps?!

Thanks for posting Sylph. I have ALWAYS loved Judith Light in everything she does. A part of me always secretly hoped she would pop back up on OLTL.

But, I'm sure the current writers wouldn't know how to write for Karen.

Or worse, they'd make her Rex's new bio mom.

I'm sure. It's a terrifying thought.

I love Judith, mazel to her and all she does!

North or south or east or west, do the buildings not bear a resemblance? :P

I didn't know that you went to Hunter Khan, I used to be affiliated with MMC.

SFK! :) And this thread is complete.

No, because this one is red. Judith's is a bit brownish.

I wonder if JL still has a home in L.A. and if she plans to keep it. If not, she'd join the likes of Michele Lee and Rue McClanahan, '80s TV stars who gave up their L.A. homes for apartment living back in NY where they got their starts in theatre.
