Breech was supposedly fired due to not taking her work seriously enough, I think.

Oh, I didn't know that. The only Karen I ever saw was Light, who was phenomenal.

Breech was described by Chris Schemering as playing Karen "kitten with a whip", or something along those lines.

The story I have heard is that Julia Duffy never intended to be a permanent replacement for Kathryn Breech. She was in the role until the show found someone else (which they did, with Judith Light).

I feel OLTL would have been cancelled at some point -- like it or not, but Karen's story was a HUGE reason for the show's resurgence during that period -- and then ABC would have pressured RYAN'S HOPE into expanding to 60 minutes.

I'm also not sure how Marco, Brad, or Jenny would have done without JL's Karen.

I think all three would have evolved as they did. It's just that they wouldn't have caught as much attention w/o JL's performance.

This episode has the most of Ken Kenitzer you will probably find anywhere. He's pretty bad, although the most annoying thing is he keeps resetting his jaw, like someone punched him out right before the camera rolled.

i still cant believe that Shawn Hatosy originated Kevin Sheffield on AMC for a day but its weird. His brother Jason was also a recast. Before Richard Roland was some blond dude.

I also remember on AW, Tico Remy's friend was recast once. The first guy was there like a month. The 2nd guy lasted to the end of AW.

Liza Fans of AMC from 1984 was alice Haining really that bad? I know she did SFT first then after AMC did Loving, OLTL & then a long stint on ATWT as Angel. Was she better then Jamie Luner?

I liked the first Tito more, although I can't remember him now. I think the second Tito and the girl who played Remy were a couple for a while.

I think Alice Haining came in at a bad time for AMC and the show seemed unsure of what to do with her character. You've seen the few episodes available of her, right? If not I will link them.
