February 25, 201114 yr Member Not so much a disaster. Just getting back to where the were before outside factors inflated them. The spikes were the anomaly, the crash is the correction. I agree I know a lot of primetime TV was down last week but these are just horrid. No wonder ABC is reconsidering its daytime lineup. AMC got about 479,000 viewers in the key demo. I think Valentines Day may have played a small part in this. AMC, OLTL and Y&R all hit new lows. I call it a disaster. I dont t think Valentine's Day had anything to do with it. If it did it only affected one day. I think what Marceline said is why soaps dropped. The soaps are in for a long dreadful summer.
February 25, 201114 yr Member The soap ratings were inflated due to bad weather. bad weather..= no school....no work....people sick and at home....all watching some form of tv...ie soaps. Now that things are back to normal ...the soaps are feeling it.....It's like the Hulk transforming himself back to David Banner.....lol Edited February 25, 201114 yr by Soapsuds

Bottom line, the weather's getting better so get used to it. It's like the Hulk transforming himself back to David Banner.....lol You just made the sci-fi geek in me go all kinds of tingly! I love this analogy. Edited February 25, 201114 yr by marceline

I don't think this crash is a correction since a lot of shows hit new lows. Something definitely happened last week, in both primetime and daytime. The numbers for this week aren't "normal" because they're lower than usual (before the inflation).

February 25, 201114 yr Member Yeah like Toups said something happend because the reatings in Primetime last week were down BADLY as well. But if this is true numbers, everyone hit new lows. Dam Y&R below 1 million.....

David Banner are the soap exces at ABC.....lol <object width="480" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UBxRfHawo8?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UBxRfHawo8?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UBxRfHawo8?fs=1&hl=en_US type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="390"></embed></object> I don't think this crash is a correction since a lot of shows hit new lows. But not all of primetime was down last week. Criminal Minds was up from the week before to name one show....Idol's numbers are actually lower this week than last weeks.

Dam Y&R below 1 million..... Let's stop making excuses for the sad ass soaps....lol The weather improved and people had better things to do than watch soaps....lol They were tired of being inside. If that is what something happened...well so be it...lol Can we agree that the ratings are horrible ,no good , very bad? yup..yes...amen.... Who knows maybe the soap ratings were headed that way....where they are now but the bad weather made the ratings look better than what they were.....what if the weather hadnt been bad...maybe the numbers for this week would have appeared sooner.
February 25, 201114 yr Member Can we agree that the ratings are horrible ,no good , very bad? Yep. And it looks like it will be a 0.7 for AMC in women 18-49. I don't see how much longer ABC can keep that show around. But as a former fan, I won't miss it. The Frons era decimated that show.
February 25, 201114 yr Member GL wasn't even hitting 0.7's when it got cancelled right? Those demos are horrible can't believe Y&R is down to a 1.3 and below a million 18-49 women viewers.

That's what I'm thinking. I think we're coming off of about three months of inflation starting from the holidays. Between various holidays and the weather there have simply been more people home watching whether due to end of the year time off, illness, closures, whatever. It's been a perfect storm of factors. We're coming out of that "storm" now. If it's not that then I'd like to hear another theory that would account for across the board drop offs in daytime and primetime. Egypt? The drama in Wisconsin? Did something cause massive pre-emptions?

The Frons era decimated that show. At this rate it won't be AMC or OLTL, ABC will just say "To hell with this s-it!" and yank both. Welcome Tori, Jeff, and The View for MEN! GH did just fine. I hate how that piece of garbage always rises like the Phoenix.
February 25, 201114 yr Member Yep. And it looks like it will be a 0.7 for AMC in women 18-49. Ouch, and in a sweeps month, no less. Even if this infamous forthcoming announcement isn't about any soap being cancelled, with numbers like these, no way the show can survive past another year or two.
