Now about the aftermath...
So the cotillion is done so they have to shift to the death...a consequence of the plasma ring storyline.
Overall...I really did like watching the aftermath of Derek's death so far. The only things that I did not like was
1) So we STILL don't know who the Impaler is? Really? And I found it extremely far-fetched that after months of being the heavy, Lia knows NOTHING. But Ren...does??? Le sigh. If the story is far from over...then what was the point of killing Derek?
2) Wrong POV. And by that, I mean...ASHLEY. I actually thought JJ did great on rewatch with Wednesday and Friday's episodes. But Thursday? NO. It was like Neurotic Ash was back and that is the worse Ashley to have on screen. I wanted to throw something at my TV watching her grieve Derek. You know...the guy she LEFT for Andre. Now she's whining about that ugly chair and how he was the love of her life? GIRL, BYE. I couldn't with those scenes. Speaking of POV, why don't we have more of Jacob...Derek's ACTUAL BFF?
In terms of Derek's death, I found Naomi's, Shanice's, and ESPECIALLY ANDRE's reactions more authentic. Shanice was the standout for me. And I loved she gathered Lia for the plasma ring. THAT was the Shanice I love and have missed these last few months. And like I said then, I liked that Andre kept it real because the whole first year was about Andre/Ashley/Derek so no love lost there.
Monica as COS. YES, PLEASE. She definitely would not be letting Silk Press Sheila get away with any mess. Then again, neither would Lia. So I don't know why those scenes were there with Ted vs Anita and Vernon over the COS position. It does make a nice C plot if it allows us to keep Shanice's aunt who has been a good addition so far.
Speaking of other plots, I will always be here for Black Veronica Mars. So I don't like Vanessa downplaying Kat trying to explore the connection between Lia and Lynette. Bonus it keeps that part of Hayley's storyline alive and active.
And Vanessa...
Look....seriously...is Joey's tool THAT good???? She really has started to bother me as of late. I have never really been on the anti-Vanessa train. Now I wonder if it's just due to how well Guza wrote her since it's clear he got her and that whole Doug/Vanessa/Joey angle. And now she is not only a whiny heroine, but a major hypocrite. Badmouthing her own daughter (who she's lying to btw) for a shady man is just beyond the pale. I did like the Kat/Deanna scene though.
And Deanna with the Friday cliffhanger? I am sure it's a fantasy, but loved it all the same. A perfect coda to a great week. Sorry to hear it sounds like they lost the momentum with this current week.
