I don't know how much impact writing has anymore. I'm of the mindset that given soaps current state, good writing can't really bring people back but bad writing can definitely drive them away. Most of the people still watching soaps watch out of habit more than anything else and when they quit its mainly out of boredom or general frustration. For every person like me who quits out of anger over a story or character, there are 99 who simply realized one day that they were FFing through the entire show.

I just lost interest I hung around through bad writing but at the end of it all

I don't care what happens anymore. I was a fan of all six now because of apathy I just watch three

I was driven away after years of clinging and hoping then coming to a realization they won't change so

why waste my time.

That sounds like an excellent strategy.

I know that this week didn't have holidays, but I think the ratings should have come out by Friday.

I quit AMC in anger over Erica stealing Maria's baby and never looked back but that wasn't MY favorite soap ever. I had a harder time quiting OLTL for 6 years.

Guza's GH drove me crazy for years but I still watched and cared but now I'm bored and delete most episodes without watching. Boredom is the true kiss of death I think.
