ABC/Disney Domestic Television doesn't syndicate Live. Buena Vista does. Two different entities. Trust me on this.

See, this was my original thought too.

Nope. Buena Vista was absorbed by Disney. ABC/Disney Domestic Television syndicates and distributes LIVE and Brian Frons oversees first-run syndication properties as well as ABC Daytime and SOAPnet.

"First-Run Programming:

Disney-ABC Domestic Television’s current first-run lineup includes ratings powerhouse “Live with

Regis and Kelly,” which recently celebrated its 20th season, high-stakes quizzer “Who Wants To Be

A Millionaire,” and the popular movie review program “At the Movies.” Additionally, DADT launched

the epic fantasy series “Legend of the Seeker” in 95% of the country for its November, 2008

premiere. The one-hour scripted series from ABC Studios and Executive Producer Sam Raimi

combines elements of fantasy, adventure, magic, mystery and romance."

In his new position, Frons takes on the additional duties of overseeing the all-soaps cable network, SOAPnet, and Buena Vista Productions, a production company with programs ranging from Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and Ebert & Roeper.

ETA: The websites for both Millionaire and LIVE have the acronym "DADT" in the URL, which of course, stands for Disney ABC Domestic Television.

Frons will have a hand in picking Regis' successor along with Gelman and Anne Sweeney. I bet it was his idea to give Regis a paycut, assuming he would stay like the other desperate daytime stars and hosts.

Buena Vista Productions is different from Buena Vista Distribution. But believe what you want to believe.

Whoever syndicates the show has no power over production, because Live is still locally produced by the ABC affiliate in NY.

http://www.etonline.com/news/107382_ET_EXCLUSIVE_Is_Josh_Duhamel_Stepping_in_for_Regis_Philbin/index.html

Is Josh Duhamel in the running to replace the departing Regis Philbin on "Live! With Regis and Kelly"?

A source tells ET's Kevin Frazier that Fergie's movie star hubby, reportedly a favorite guest of Kelly Ripa's, may possibly fill Regis' shoes once the veteran host leaves the morning talk show.

"Wow! Do they have Vegas odds on that?" Fergie asked Kevin with a laugh during this week's Super Bowl preps. "Right now he is actually in New York filming 'New Year's Eve.'"

Pressed by Kevin again whether or not Josh is in the running, theBlack Eyed Peas singer deflected with a smile, "You're going to have to ask him that question."

A spokesperson for ABC Disney tells ET, "This one is simply not true," while Regis says, "I haven't heard that name yet. That's a good name. ... Actors have careers that are pretty good to them -- this is a daily thing every morning, so they've got to consider that before they get involved."

According to Josh's publicist, "there is no truth to the story."

I just read that WABC, the NYC ABC Affiliate is O&O by Disney and I assume that means owned and operated so based on that and numerous other items I googled (such as that Brian Frons is the President of the Daytime Disney-ABC Television Group which distributes through syndication the Live with Regis and Kelly show - and other shows such as Who Wants to be a Millionaire) it does seem that Brian Frons does have some sort of overseeing responsibility for the Live with Regis and Kelly show.

No clue who they will pick to replace Regis but I would bet no money on Mark Consuelos (although he does a good job) or any other soap star or former soap star. They will probably go with someone like Howie Mandel, but who is less OCD. Maybe Jerry O'Connell - his show may be cancelled. The rumors of Ryan Seacrest I find ridiculous - why would he give up his GINORMOUS AI paycheck and audience for Live with Ryan and Kelly?
