GL Emmy Winner Joins Y&R cast!

Certainly not who I (or anyone else I'm sure) expected!

Emmy winner Melissa Hayden hits Genoa City on Jan. 7 as Agnes. According to Soap Opera Digest, the storyline is being kept under wraps for now but according to the actress, it’s “kicking something off. It’s going to be meaningful when it happens.”

This is very shocking since she hasn't done much acting since leaving GL. I know she mentioned wanting to return to acting when she returned for the final days of GL. I just didn't expect it to happen on Y&R. I can't tell the length of this role but I'm definitely excited. I thought she was very talented in a few episodes I've seen and seems like a popular and important part of GL in the 90s.

Here's a current pic:

And Y&R continues to masquerade as a turd with diamonds sprinkled on it.

She would make a great Greenlee on All My Children. Rebecca Budig is too cold in the role.

I'm shocked about this for many reasons, one of them being that Rauch didn't exactly do anything to keep her around when he joined GL.

I'm glad that she is still working. I hope she might have one or two decent scenes, and won't be humiliated. That's about all I can hope for.

This also helps to show how important it was that Ellen Wheeler brought back so many GL vets, even just in small roles, for the last months of the show. It helped remind the industry, or what's left of it, of their talent.

It is a shock for that reason alone, but maybe Rauch(Or B&E) did have it out for the Reardons, and it wasn't the actors per se.

So now it's time for me to write in and ask them to hire Lisa Brown as the new Leslie Brooks!

Damn, might I have to actually have to turn into this dreck to see her? Oh, there's always YouTube edits I suppose.

I loved me some Melissa Hayden/Bridget Reardon, too bad her character is likely to suck on Y&R...

If it's an actual character then I don't think this is a stunt. She wasn't a Rauch favorite and I don't think is popular enough to be considering stunt casting. Her heyday is long gone. I'm sure she had to battle it out for this.

What shocks me the most is she's actually a talented soap vet. Did they have another budget cut and weren't able to cast some of their ideals for this part, like, say, the third nurse in Temperatures Rising, or Cunilla Hutton, or Misty Rowe?

Melissa always had a very real and gritty acting appeal and look to her. You could easily believe her as a normal girl/woman that made some terrible mistakes. Tricia Cast is another one with a similar acting style. Daytime doesn't have enough actresses like that anymore.

But is there really much to see when you know all to well how they've treated the rest of similar actors?
