He may be the least known director who directed the best film. ESB gets credit for being the best of the SW films, but it truly is one of the best films period. Its use of music I think you have to reach all the way back to the melodramas of the golden age of Hollywood to find anything comparable. Also, the way it is edited with the different storylines is interesting in that it starts out with these extended sequences but as the events become ever more dire they got shorter and shorter which almost mirrors the walls closing in on the heroes.

The whole sequence with Vader and Luke has now one of the most famous pieces of dialogue ever, and it is such crass melodrama, soap opera even, and it all just works.
