Y&R: Week of November 29

From a production standpoint, the remote IS beautifully shot. I keep thinking back to ATWT and GL and scenes in a muddy, water-infested parking lot behind the local 7-11. Shudder. Still. Have. Nightmares.

However, Daytime still doesn't "get" filming outdoors. EPs and HWs have no clue what to do when they get the hell out there. It's like they are waiting for a pat on the back just for dragging the camera equipment out into daylight. We shouldn't have to sit through 20 minutes of Sharon aimlessley wandering strangely empty streets, we should be watching scenes that happen to be outdoors which advance plot and characterization. This is not just a criticism at Y&R, but an industry-wide issue.

The fact that Giggly Heffa has been shoved into this remote like a square peg in a round hole is not exciting me, either. Why is she even involved in this triangle? And please don't tell me it's for Restless Style. I thought Miss Grrrrrl-Power Let's-Do-It-For-The-Ladies was moving on to greener pastures.

Diane is a smart little thing. Nothing like making that purple-faced blowhard Jack feel big and important than by "sincerely" apologizing to him. Kudos, girlfriend!

Careful what we wish for...Sharon was bugging out, already scared when she saw those singing black folks marching down the street. She needed a minute.

But that's not Mike Stich's fault(not that I think you're blaming him and only him). There's only so much you can do with so little script and story. I didn't mind so much of the aimless wandering as long as it eventually leads to something. That's Y&R's biggest problem...nothing they do ever leads to anything remotely interesting or substantial with or without a fantastic remote.

The City used to do this alot...with characters walking around town by themselves or chasing each other around town with little or no dialogue. But the difference between what they did versus what Y&R did is that those characters eventually went somewhere else and did something.

What the hell did Sharon do all show? Get offered some food on the street by some over-friendly local, walk around town, get her tarot read, walked around town some more, ran into a funeral march(no doubt so Rauch and Maria could get their minstrel fix for the week), and then go to some stranger's grave to cry and pray and then got to see Adam. Where's the story in that?!

I'm surprised they didn't cast Janet Dubois as the spirit of a slave who convinced Sharon to bed down with the man who told her her baby had died of deformities.

This whole Shick and Shadam sh!t should have been a thrilling triangle but everything is so boring. It would be like if everyone in the Luke/Laura/Scotty triangle walked around as zombies and Luke spent months giving Laura creepy stares as Laura stared into space and stole Richard Simmons' sweatband.

You are right, I wasn't blaming Stich who is a very competent director having done outdoor shoots for both B&B and Y&R. He can only do what he's told to do and what little the script offers him, which is to shoot Sharon walking around and jumping every time some black peeps talk to her. Now with Dru gone, poor thing isn't used to seeing them, you see.

Contrast that with an old L&O: Criminal Intent rerun I caught a while back. Goren arrests a murder suspect on a junction with Times Square, slowly, tensely itching towards her with his gun trained on her. It was filmed on a busy week day in winter, and I don't think L&O has a budget for millions of extras milling around -- these were NY commuters going about their business. A great outdoor scene, filmed on one camera, cannot have taken a long time to shoot (though set-up may have taken time), it lasts three minutes, and it is the scene which changes the course of the episode, because now Goren can question her at headquarters. There was not a lot of standing around going "Oh, look: Times Square!"

That dress of MTS is like a carwreck...you just can't look away, even though you know you should.

Yeah...Maura's up to four minutes of airtime now. *eyeroll*

Not only do I hope Nick gets custody of her kids, I hope he throws her in a nuthut. Just to piss Adam off. I've seen some sick, twisted shyt coming from ATWT...but this takes the cake.

^^^yes....even the specter of Janet Ciccone didn't keep me from loving my show. Y&R is a sucking vortex of soulless celluloid.

Guess who's wearing Nikki's dress today? B&B's Aggie. Even being smaller and shorter (and without pants underneath)---its a bad look.

Talk about love (porn) in the afternoon. Muhney & Case are great though I haven't seen this much skin since ATWT hired that adult film crew. Adam and Sharron have some serious sexual energy. CBS must be asking for more flesh 'cause I notice B&B has amped up the shirtless shots, too.

Is it just me or has Nick's acting become even more pathetic?

And COOK! Don't forget cooking to please a man. Sigh. Don't get me wrong, I hope Diane kicks Phyllis' ass and makes her miserable (or even more miserable than that hypocritical slut already is.) I just don't want to see her settle for Phyllis' sloppy seconds.

MM & SC were frigging hot today, all that sexual energy!

Muhney was the sexiest I've ever seen him on Y&R - when Adam tore his shirt off, my temperature went right up! B)

The tired and boring Shick pales into insignifigance compared with the pure lust of Shadam.
